Wisconsin "Cheeseheads" - Page 2096

good morning,  had a pretty good soaker this morning..  some thunder to go along with it.. still 99.9% humidity out there..  Nora must have not slept with the puppies.. she is soaked  and trying to sneak into the house..  sorry old gal..  the pups managed to stay fairly dry.. they are all snoozing together, ..

Sandi, the people did not say what kind of duck eggs, just dropped them off when I was not here..

It is time for the chicks in the brooder to go into one of the portable pens..  then I can put a large feeder and 5 gallon waterer is with them..   the barocks still go into that pen to lay their eggs, but they will have to learn to go someplace else..

gardening is out of the question for today.. I have plenty else to do, just pick a project..  going for breakfast, first..

well TerriO, today is day 3.. you should be good and stiff and sore today.. hope you did not hurt yourself like permanently..  I got my leg crushed between two horses when I was a kid, and now it still bothers me..

My oldest grandson helped move some furniture for a friend.. pinched a nerve in his neck or arm.. cannot raise his hand higher than his belly button..  Neck MRI showed nothing..

Good morning...bright and a bit hazy here today.  Humidity is up! Welcome to Wisconsin summer hey?  Really sore today...2nd day in is always the worst.  At least it will be day 3 when I have to stand on that cement floor for 4 hours.  That wrecks me on a GOOD day!

The Bobs are growing by leaps and bounds and now Eli and The MG twins jump up on the gate to greet me in the morning!  That is just before Eli takes a pinch at the back of my hand to tell me to "hurry up with the food already!"

Some nice looking chicks in this batch...there is a smaller one that has cheek muffs that are starting to cover his eyes!

My guineas seem to run in a pack all the time Cind...

Dogs were barking...had to go and put some in the kennel and take others out...while I was out there (in my bright white nightie-ep.gif) I let out the tortoises and took a walk out to the edge of the hayfield to pick some dandelions and other greens for them.  THen I fed the outside birds and let out the BLue Ams...that is about all I can do in my slippers!  So now I cant remember anything I had to say! Man that just ticks me off!

I know there was something to say to MXM--oh yeah, excellent advice about cats by Cind!  I can just see her going through her chores with a cat toy (and cat) trailing her! gig.gif Maybe you could tie the string to your daughter MXM?  My suggestions is get another cat! They can play with each other!  But be really careful...two cats lead to more cats.....and then you have 10!  I think it is something in the air that says if you have multiple cats they find your house...I just had an awful thought...maybe it is the LITTER BOXES?  sickbyc.gif  I dont smell them at all in my house (and if they do smell maybe folks are too polite to say) but I dont really smell my bucky goats either unless they are in full rut!   HMMM--a thought to ponder....

I know there was something else...but Dan, how about bringing some of those started plants to the Bash?  I have yet to drive over to the rummage sale that sold me my plants last year...I think I am going to do that today though...dont want to miss it!  I think our city wide onee is this weekend so maybe there are plants in my future.

Gotta get the rest of the masses fed...get dressed and get to work...Jim if you are finding ticks you dont have enough guineas (or are feeding them too well!) Have a fantastic day everyone!  Terri O

Jim-My main thing is to find him a good home-my concern is if he is aggresive someone will butcher him. I think he would thrive in an environment where he is left alone with his girls (rather than my situation where I am out interacting with the girls constantly).

Need to mention-Donny boy has crooked toes-which I know can be from either gentics or from incubating. I am pretty positive it was from incubating for the following reasons:

-the batch this breeder was to hatch the week before Donny's-she lost all viable eggs at the end due to incubator issues

-the batch I bought the week after Donny-BR's were all fine/no toe issues.

I can take pics of his toes and send if your interested?  he is a sweetheart to his girls (Takes treats I try to give him over and drops it for his ladies) and just doing his job protecting them-love the guy!

Amery is quite a ways from where you are at (MN Border-N of Hudson)-but I am still contemplating coming to the upcoming bash so would possibly be in the area....

Bigzio Bash questions: Are most people staying over night? When people discuss what they are bringing-is there a specific time for a potluck and the rest of the time everyone is doing there own thing....?

BBP: just realized my eggs are expected to hatch on MOTHERS DAY! How cool is that? I wanted to find out if you think you will have any chicks hatch/available that weekend? Harriet (the Blk Orp) took over Deliliahs eggs-so left Harriet with 2 and gave duck egg and one other LO egg back to Deliliah. But I think you are right-nothing but chicks will break Deliliahs broodiness and feel bad if one ends up with chik(s) and the other doesnt? Or do you know if the Co Op will have any in around then? Thought they were talking Astralorp or BSL around then? (More black!!! lol)

I have some that I set on the 26th that we could put under her now if you want. Otherwise, I have one here that should hatch on the 10th. Not sure why there's only 1.

Afternoon All...short break in the nasty weather here...tons of lighyning ,thunder and rain here.

Angiebuds....quite a number of folks stay overnight, folks close by just come and go to and from. The main events like the big meal and games take place Saturday afternnoon....some come early and stay late, all depends on their schedules. Everyone is busy visiting with each other and the time seems to fly by fast!

Monthly work day at camp later....wonder if we are gonna be rained out....looks like more on the way now...we will have a meeting and meal no matter what the weather....

check in later if the weather isn't electric like it's been.    bigz

DrH.... Yea, plan on eating on the way up and probably have to have a potty stop. Better to take our time

TO...Mine run in a pack too, but the white one seems to be left out allot. Now that they are pairing up it's real off.... only 3 males and 5 hens. They still run in a pack but a pack of pairs with the other 2 just hanging on the outskirts.

Dan... good idea about bringing some plants to the bash!

Grrrrr.... back and hip don't want to work right today....didn't sleep worth a d@mn either... too hot! Been a slow day getting things done, hope I can pick it up later or things are going to back up.

Hope you all have a good day. CU later!

Holy moly, did we get hit by that storm! Hardly slept, what with the booming, shaking, heavy rain, pacing dog, and 2 scared kiddos in our bed. And, and, my duck house floated away! ep.gif It's a big square rubbermaid storage tub, and is quite buoyant (who knew?) It floated about 30 yards down the creek, which normally is 2-3 feet wide, and right now is at least 40! DH and I got in our muck boots and retrieved it. My 2 older ducks were in it, and horray, they are just fine. What a night they must have had. Until the water recedes, they are in with my Jaerhons.

This is looking down from our bedroom window.

DH standing on the bridge, which has been crested by the creek for the first time. Normally it is 3 feet wide there, and 2 feet below the bridge!

May3 Flood (1).JPG

There's the little duck house, after we got it back. The cinder block is helping it not float away again.

I'm standing on the bridge, looking downstream.

Dont you find it odd that people will put more work into choosing their mechanic or house contractor than they will into choosing the person who grows their food?
