Mornin'!  We're almost finished with school for the day around here.  now that it's getting close to the end we're just picking a subject and doing massive lessons a day in that one subject.  Trying to pick off a subject a week.

On Monday when we started planting in the garden, we had a friend come out and help us, as well as another friend that is starting up a photography business.  He took some pics while he was here.  4 of the kids are mine, 2 are not.  :)  http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3750593319025.2165443.1102121061&type=3  I think that link will take ya to the facebook album.  It should be public for anyone to see.  There was one pic of my oldest daughter with a chicken I thought you all might like.  :)

EL, the closeup of the baby is so sweet!

Dont you find it odd that people will put more work into choosing their mechanic or house contractor than they will into choosing the person who grows their food?

Late Morning to Ya

I am trying to do a quick read to catch up, but will be days before I am done.  :)   Mostly I am looking at the pictures!

Bf4m maybe Libby got stung by a bee. I had a cochin roo that that happened to and I was so alarmed until someone mentioned that and within a few days he was all better. Strange thing.

I am out to work in the garden and put my cruciferie in. lol  Fininsh up the fence and replant spinach and chard.   It seems late for these vegies so I better do it today.

CC: I am so sorry about your hen-thats insane! Still no clue what happened?

Cind: Love the pic of the hen in the metal pail Adorable!!

BF4U: I had something similiar happen with a ROo I had..his eye and side of his face swelled up-still not for sure what happened. Think it may have been from another young ro. Anyhow_ I used that Vetromycin (Spelling?) that is a spray.( I have heard stories about old timers using it on themselves even to treat pink eye) but it is a antibiotic that is mild enough for eyes etc yet has a whole list of things it can be used for. And it sure worked for him. Also used it on a barn cats ear that looked infected-seems to be helping there as well. (and its easy to use)

bf4m.... it looks like a bug bite to me. How long was it like that?

That Cochin is sitting a a big plastic pot... the kind you get trees and shrubs in. They seem to like those and milk crates for nesting. The pots I have to put some rocks in the bottom so they don't tip, but at least she fits.

Catch you later.

I wonder if it was a gypsy moth nest? They are flogging for them ya know.

I read in my new book that if you slope your garden soil to a 5* towards the south (in northern hemisphere) it is the equivalent of setting the climate 300 miles south. Has anyone raised the Cherokee Purple heirloom tomatoe? Was wonderring about that one. Also, what would be a good tomater for salsa canning and a good pepper for mild/medium salsa? Anyone know how to plant bare root raspberries? I have 5 of them that need to go in the ground sooner.

Raim, it's probably tent caterpillars. They are extremely destructive to trees, especially fruit trees. We usually snip off the branch it is on (if it isn't too far into the tree) & throw it into our burn barrel & poof! Torched!
