Wisconsin "Cheeseheads" - Page 2138

Well it's official... This hatch is over. I candled this morning. No movement. I knew it! So I crack them open I had one more duck pip internally but not externally. Same thing with a chick. All the rest quit close to, or during lockdown. P!sses me right off! I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. They grow really well up until lockdown. Then they die! I do dry incubation. Then I bring the humidity up to 75-85% for lock down, and they die.

So now I have to break the news to Mazo and Twizzle. They were going to take my extras. sad.png

I decided to pick up a few other duckling to keep mine company. They are mutt ducks, Cayuga and Buff. Totally not as cute as my baby. But at least he's not a lonely duck anymore.

Then I felt bad for the only chick and brought her home some friends. Three Ameraucaunas (they are just EEs I'm sure.) but right now they have fluffy faces so I'm hopeful they'll keep them.

You know, im good with chicken addition, but also chicken subtraction. Libby got put down today.

Later gators!
I'm looking for a local meeting for PHA (Pervy Humor Anonymous) and PFAA (Poultry and Fowl Addicts Anonymous). PM me with any meeting info...

Not very good in the patience dept., though, are you? Didn't you just start Libby on antibiotics yesterday? It takes more than 24 hours to clear anything up.

Sorry your hatch didn't go well.

Ok, You buy the bus and give me that camper you just bought !!!

Full basement !!! hide.gif Shows you how much I know about camper lingo. Now horse and chicken lingo I speak, maybe not fluently but as least I can figure it out.

Ok now I'm going outside. Oh and Bigfm4m I had 5 or 6 (cr) shipped muscovys due to hatch to day. At lockdown, nothing. A few days before that they were going strong. I'm not holding my breath.

What kind of bator do you have. I know it's not a master. Is is a Genesis Hovabator? I would follow the manufacturers directions next time. I have the best hatches when I do that and other then adding water, set and forget !!!

Ok bye for now !!

BBP: Ugh! Who did the hawk get??? Sorry hugs.gif   What other chicks do they have at the store right now? All 3 eggs from you had movement and first pip mark.  I moved one under Deliliah. Not sure how this is all going to work out. I had Thelma out in the run with the others while I held her chicks...Petunia-the lil banty went after mom...and then Donny jumped in and chased Thelma off-WTH? I need to get her and the babies out with the rest fo the flock somehow...and now I have 2 more moms/3 chicks coming along.  Any advice on how to make them "just all get along?"

Anyone know if dwarf burning bushes are poisonous to chickens?

EDIT: the web is saying that both dwarf burning bush and clematis are posionous to chickens....plants I bought of in and around their run :-P Yet reading and others say they have them and the chickens leave them alone. SO any recommendations for nice looking bush that would offer some shade?

Oh, I meant to mention to anyone that wants a good deal on chick starter, duck starter or grower pellets (Prince) Sorry MLH hide.gif or a really good deal on Layer mash ($8.65 per 50lbs) if you're coming to the bash Bigzios feed store isn't to far away. (Not actually Bigzios store but where he shops)

I have to take inventory and see what I need. Plus I have to assess the money situation. As long as I'm down that way I may as well get a good price.

I don't think they are open on Saturdays though are they Bigz?

We might come down for Friday night (Just to give Heather a hard time) so I could get the food first. Then I'd have to bring the truck though. Unless I get the camper.  Wow, nothing like waiting for the last minute to figure things out.

Bigfam, i'll glue razor blades to the lilac branches !!! Plant them a tree to climb in and tell them that is alot more manly to climb a tree then a flowering tree !!! LOL

OK now I have to go. The feed store is called Magee's and is locatedd in Embarass WI just sayin.
