That Cochin is awfully cute.
Wel we were outside for a few hours early this am to do some outside stuff, but otherwise we are going nuts inside. Lots of Legos and movies in the ac. Aran out to mist the chickens and give them some frozen tomatoes but that is about it for excitement, ugh.bored

well, I am back ..  I went out and hilled the last 30 feet row of potatoes,  then I mowed the rest of the lawn, after I put the mower deck back onto the mower..  watered and fed all the birds again.. man it is HOT  out there !!!  I almost worked up a sweat..

If you are still reading ,, disregard all that first paragraph..  it is all lies..   but I DID stay in the house and I DID bake 2 dozen hamburger buns and I DID make a 3 pound batch of sloppy Joe's..and I DID wash all the dishes I could find that needed it..

I even let both of the adult dogs stay in the house..  they know how lucky they are,,  they are laying so tight to the floor that you could move them only by using a spatula..

NONE of my eggs are hatching..  I guess the power outage, albeit a short one, must have done them in..  looks like we are losing about 150 eggs..  maybe more, after the next due date rolls around..

that's it for now..  bbl..........jiminwisc...........

Happy Fourth everyone!

My chickens have a fan but they are still hot! Gave some a bath today.

This weather makesme wish I was still living in that old brick home by the river. What fond memories. I measured 97* in the living room today. I am mostly in my bedroom with the room air.  I am hoping tomorrow afternoon will be better.

So far the only casualty here were young son's cave fish!  Most of the girls and the young ones are hanging out in the part of the coop/shed w/ the cement floor. Put ice blocks in all 6 waters. I'll go back out about 8:30. Hate to say, but if a chicken got heat stress out back, I can't go looking sad.png My Natas cat is missing too! I worry because she's a long haired black cat! Heat could have gotten her too hit.gifHope everyone else and their critters are ok!

I think I am about as tan as nicely cooked toast..... an absolute WONDERFUL day at the lake! The only downside is I now have to go back to WORK for the next three days... the party at the lake again! wee.gif

FM says hello to everyone! She misses you all!

Ducks are doing fine; I need to take my road trip and get RID of a few! Possibly the week after next? All of you needing Calls just send me a PM or an email and let me know where and when.......

Off to get the chicken off the grill.... it is so hot out there it is just awful to stand by the grill and cook..... fruit sounds so much better.

wee.gifI have a pip!!!!

My first batch I've incubated, so I feel kinda accomplished. They actually aren't supposed to hatch until next friday, I thought... But the little egg is wiggling so I have my hopes up. It will be a sleepless night!

Good evening!  I am sitting here with a towel on my head over my ear cause as soon as DH got home he hauled in the window unit and it is blowing right at me! It was hurting my ear so now I am wearing the towel!  IT does feel coolish for sure but he didnt bother to stuff any insulation around it so I guess that is up to me hey?

I have to go back outside really soon and make sure everyone has water for the night.  I did bring in Tommy and the rabbit when we got back from lunch with my brother and his fam.  I couldnt catch TIna so I will get her after she goes to roost. THe basement room is pretty cool but now Tommy is on the incubator that isnt chewed up...the eggs are due next Sunday.  THis is the last hatch for the year for me....it is full of Cuckoo marans and black Ameraucanas that I have my fingers crossed for...the fertility was not what I expected from them...I think the pens I made are too small for breeding pens so maybe the rooster didnt get that much action?

Getting dark out there...guess I better head out.  I hope I dont melt!  Terri O

Ok, sounds great.  One question.  How big are the nests?  Do you have a choice between queen or king?
