Back from the zoo! We had a great time! I have to give kudos to the company I work for, they know how to throw their employees a picnic! Brats, burgers, hot dogs, BBQ pork, all the trimmings plus unlimited free ice cream, drinks, popcorn, snow cones, and cotton candy!!!! The kids gorged themselves.... on top of that they give each attendee 3 tickets that are good for 5 different activities (you have to pick three of the five) which are the shuttle, the train, the carousel, the Summer exhibit, or the Sea Lion show. It is so much easier to see the zoo on a motorized vehicle!!!! The company also provides a stuffed animal for each small child, activities for the kids, henna tattoos and face painting.

I shudder to think what this costs for the number of people who do show up.... people who cannot come on the day of the picnic get the same tickets for the zoo, and I am unaware if they get any other perk.....

After the zoo we stopped in at Cabela's to poke around a bit. Always interesting to see what is there.

Tonight the DH and I are going to try and go to an area Fireman Dance..... we will see how tired both of us are. Since DH is taking a nap I bet I will be the party pooper. I am making dinner instead of taking a snooze.....

I went out and bought my own 'tractor' of a sort..... I picked up a new camera! A Canon T3i!!!! With an extra lens, batteries, and a whole buch of extra goodies! wee.gif  I figure I am due.

H&R... you jinxed us, all that rain went south and east of us... bummer. Watering the garden again. While the wildlife has eaten my cucumbers, broccoli and brussel sprouts, just picked a bumper crop of green beans and some zuccs. yeah. Tomatoes are growing so that is good. Now to prep myself for Disney madness in another week. YIKES

Tiki, 250" with your doors open,,,  no wonder it is so hot outside..

.............jiminwisc...........

Yup  I was cleaning my coop out and the big very dark clouds came blowing in fast! Half the ski was black and half was white for a while. The rain came fast and mildly hard and lasted about 20 minutes. It was nice except some of my chickens got caught in it. I found three that looked like drowned rats but they made it. One silkie had a plastic hose holder box blow on top of her. Lucky I found her when I did because she was fairly flattened out. She is ok today. I went to Kwik Trip and bought eggs to make for the chickens to get over the trauma of the storm.

Yup gig.gif

welcome-byc.gifsuki'smom Welcome to the cheesethread!

I thought you got a new ep.gifhorse too DrHa. Was just thinking this could be a horse thread almost as much as a chicken thread.

The horse masks are very interesting BBP. It doesn't appear that they can see though!?  Pretty mare!

Amy it must be fun watching the ducks. I love duckslove.gif but won't get any till I move elsewhere.

I would really like to see a picture of the chicken's eye Dan.

Is the Northern Lights display tonight or did I miss it?hide.gif

Bl4 sounds like you had a wonderful day .  I would be sleeping right about now with all that fresh air and activity. Will expect lots of pretty pictures with that new camera of yours. tongue2.gif

I have a Pineapple Tomato (heirloom) and It look ripe-ish.  I think I'll pick it and save the seeds. I'll give it to the end of this week for the rest of the tomatoes and then pull them out. They just are not looking good.

Welcom Sukismom!  People are really wonderful here!  I rather adore them all....even BigFam....She is like the annoying younger sister we all have.....or would have if we had any sisters.... because some of us only have brothers....

DrH-I also choked on your Appaloosa comment ....then I read further! LOL!!

Vicki-V&E's = vitamins and electrolytes.  I hate spelling electrolytes because it's on of those words that I can't spell well. Heck I can't spell well to begin with! Ha! Anywho, I have a couple of types. Blue Ribbon Poultry V&E's in the huge multi dose pack. (Unless you have a gazillion chickens. Then it's a one dose thing!) and I have the Save a Chick single dose packets. (For when I'm feeling lazy and don't want to so math conversion from the huge pack!)

Miss Crabby McCrabberson will go back to normal in the "restroom" department when her brood breaks.  You are nice to let her out to do her business. SG has no such niceness because she is sneaky, sly, and a pain in the hind end to break her brood.

thanks again MLH hugs.gif for putting up with a newbie big_smile.png  I already have save-a-chick.  Been putting a watered down version into my girls water whenever it gets too hot.

Dont you find it odd that people will put more work into choosing their mechanic or house contractor than they will into choosing the person who grows their food?

Whew-caught up again!! Home from a day of kayaking iwht the family-good times and nice sunburn out of it!!!

Terri O: your cake was beautiful! So I was confused by your crust comments-you use the cookies inthe food processor-do you or dont you add butter and sugar?

Twizz: Cute chicks!!!

BBP: Cute pics of the horses When is the mare due? Wht breed?

I will post pics of the ones I suspect are roos soon. Im so mad at myself I vowed to take pics every week of the chicks since there are 8 breeds. Would be a great comparision etc....I made it thru week 3 and that was it. They are 6 weeks now. The suspected roos are 10 week and 12 week old Lavendar Orpingtons and Mottled Lav Orp. My younger chicks are suppossedly all sexed pullets. However the SL Wyandotte is a lot bigger than the GL? Is that typical?

Barred Rock, Black sex-linked, Dorking/Iowa Blue mix, Black, Buff, & Lavender orpingtons, Cochin bantams & LF, SL & GL Wyandotes, Lt Brahma, Salmon Faverolle, Easter Egger's, Speckled Sussex, Silver Laced Maran, and Polish mix

And of course the Police showed up at the house again tonight..... I told the officer that I had spoken with his Sergeant on Thursday... and of course the information was not passed along (making me look like I am lying)... and we were headed out to the Dance when they showed up..... so I told the officer that I would call him back and the card he gave me has his name on it and his badge number but I did not hear his name on the answering machine so I left a message with the Sergeant letting him know I am following up but I have no idea where to leave my message.....  ugh.... this should be the Quacks of Our Lives! wink.png

I think I'll sleep on it.

welcome-byc.gif newbie!!!

TIki the pressure!!! I need to figure out how to put a watermark on my pics first.....

Amy, glad you like it, it was the one I spoke about on FB...... I don't have a bag for it right now so I did not take it with me to the zoo (he has to make up his mind which bag he is willing to part with...).

Ooooooohhhhh THUNDER!!!!! wee.gif   and... the dog is under the bed.

Night all!
