...i'm back mmmmm, pumpkin bread with (rewarmed) cuppa....

Dudes we went to ENGLAND two weeks ago!  For a week!  Is was so very awesome!  First trip out of the country.  Just spectacular.  The reason I'm mentioning this is it was that week and the week before when I was a single parent that I only got one run in.  There are a lot of other things on my plate these days and I just couldn't get myself to stick to the training for the 1/2 marathon.  I got up to 8 miles before that but I'd be pretty miserable running with that training and no more.   I'd want to go into it having done the training all out like I did last year.  It was the best feeling during the race realizing that I did indeed have the stuff to get it done. I'd done my homework.   This year was just not meant to be.

But the 10K was very doable and a blast at the Zoo Run Run in Madison last month!  How about you Heather?  Melissa?  Someone just asked me to join their team for the Jingle Bell Run so I'm really hoping that comes together.

Bumbie can't get into the coop by himself!  Putting a ramp in there is a bit of a nuisance.  For now we're putting him in the coop in the evening.  Will that change as he matures and grows more wing feathers in????

The facebook pix were taken just outside "traitor's gate" at the Tower of London!!!  Starbucks just up the Thames from there, see...

England sounds wonderful... we wanted to do more european traveling but kids got distracted us from that goal. Maybe in another 12 years...

Our silkies can do only tiny ramps and only one will willingly try to perch on low branches but it was not raised with silkies and does not beleive that it is one.

just ran to the store on my lunch break to grab some groceries and make a last minute halloween treat for kids kindergarten party tomorrow. Now eating some soup and back to work.. not motivated today.

Marge.... LOVE THE UK. I'm the Scottish traveller myself, but will do England again. Sigh... Wasn't it just wonderful to get out of here and experience something wonderful and new?

I was going to do the half for Haunted a hustle and NEVER train for it. But du to illness and yuck weather I went down to the 10k. I told you I was slow, but I ran the whole 10k in 1 hr 11 min. I was just so darn happy to run 6 miles!

For future interest MXM... Chicago has a race called Chicago's Perfect 10. It's a 10k or 10 miler. I'm doing the 10k in a couple weeks. Next year my running goal will be the 10 miler. The year after will be running a full half (most likely). So write that down that race for next year, may be we'll run it together!
I'm looking for a local meeting for PHA (Pervy Humor Anonymous) and PFAA (Poultry and Fowl Addicts Anonymous). PM me with any meeting info...

Sitting down for supper last night with the DH and kiddos when my sweet red headed DS8 tells us about a huge storm coming to New York that would bring lots and lots of sand, and was going to be really bad. It took us awhile to figure it out, and almost died laughing when we realized he was talking about Hurricane Sandy!lau.gif Kids are so funny sometimes.

DS9 and DS3 are sick. I was up all night with one or the other. I told them I was going as a Zombie for Halloween and I didn't even need to buy a costume. Point proven at the grocery store when one of the clerks said that I looked a little under the weather. I said no my children are. She just said ,"oh, that'll do it".hmm.png

Came home from the store and saw the chickens enjoying my MIL's wheelbarrow full of after the garden goodies. Hope you all have a great autumn day!

So Dora is getting her groove on Nov 8th???

good guess, but NOPE ..

I just came in from outside..  It was windy all day, but now the sun is gone and it got really too cold for me..   I did get one whole side of the rafters up and ready for sheathing..  It wouldn't have taken too much to finish the other side, but I hit the wall..

My brother just went back to the river to hunt a deer..  yesterday he shot a turkey..  that seems funny to me since all I have to do is step out my back door and pick any one I want..

speaking of turkeys.. that guy who wanted the Royal Palm hens emailed me 7 times..  then  nothing..  WTH ??

If he doesn't contact me by tomorrow, I am going to tell him that I sold all of them..

Windy Day Here Too!  I stayed out of the woods today. The trees were rockin good and I'm sure something came crashing down. Sounds like a little brisk tomorrow yet.

Nothing new here...I'll share a little APA News for folks that might care about these breeds. The APA accepted two new breeds into the SOP... The white Seramas and the SC and RC Nankins (bantams)...I have the SOP Description if anyone has these breeds and has a question. Just sayin.

Fire sure feels good tonight. Musta been the nap I took that brought on the chill in me. Good to go now though.

Evening all not much news to report today Adams interview got changed to Thursday, The lady in HR was sick today....... so now we just have to wait till Thursday....grrrrr
Windy like crazy here today I didn't even let the horses go scrounge around in there field they kinda hid out of the wind on the south side of the barn....... the chickies joined them this afternoon, they ain't so crazy about the wind either. Not sure whats up with my SS Sissy, she sure seems rto be down, maybe the molting is taking too much out of her....... she's been hiding for days and her crop was not full tonight, even though I set out an extra dish of warm water and food for her in her hiding place. Her and Peepers slept on one of my barn blankets last night atop the rooster cage........ peepers at least gets down abd goes scratching around during the day............. worried sissy is sicker than just molting and the crap weather, no runny nose or sneezing, seems ok will eat scrambled eggs, and some feed, but....... not sure what to do with her,
What was it again you all were just talking about giving your molting girls????? and where can I get me some............
Well anyway gonna watch a movie, and eat icecream.......... LOL later all Kim

Evening all,

Guess what,  My neighbor saw the missing banty in his yard, He called me and then went out to try to catch her.  By the time I got there, she had flown away and he didn't see where. ;(  so tomorrow I will put out more feed for her and search for her after school

Wish me luck.

luck with the banty  otonoh

So I go out this morning to feed my ladies and They are all standing around in the hen house.  I figure they don't want to go out in the wind and shiver.  I fill the feeder and the indoor water( I have some youngins that do not go outside for the abuse yet) and decide to peek in the nesting box to see if anyone is up and at em that early. I have a nesting box I made from an old kitchen cabinet so that my side has the cabinet door and the hen side has 4 holes for nesting 2 on top and 2 under.  anyway I open the door and there sits a cat, well half a cat, well a half grown cat sleeping snuggled up to the production red trying to lay.  This kitten is not mine but similarly colored to our tabby.  I sent him on his way out my side of the nest box, and he ran off like he was shot out of a cannon.

anyone else every have a ferral cat get friendly with your hens?

should I worry about him coming back with the family to feast?

thoughts any one?

I have 1 wife 1 boy 1 girl 1 dog 1 cat 9 quail and 33 chickens because 20 is enough I swear it is.
