For those of you who have not ever heard of registering your livestock,
A few years back there was a big push from the powers in charge.
without being registered, you are not allowed to move any livestock off of your immediate property.. that means, if you own a horse, don't ride it down the road, do not drive cows to the neighbor's pasture, do not take any fowl anywhere.
this is why there are no longer hardly any swaps to go to.
You cannot sell at a swap without being registered and tested.
If you notice, it is mostly the large poultry farms who have these epidemic disease breakouts. when it happens, the small surrounding farms are quarantined, despite not having any disease. .
someone on this thread was quarantined like that once and then never notified when the quarantine was lifted..
don't get me wrong, If someone or a company is selling products to eat, it should be traceable ..
but for someone like me who raises chickens for only my consumption, keep your nose out and your hands off..
