5 for 6 today from the pullets...I think they are all laying now. Started a couple dozen in the incubator yesterday so these will be the start of the next batch. I haven't even eaten one yet.
I talked to my bro yesterday, he has been catching northerns right along. he has his own slot size.. throws some nice ones back.. I told him I didn't care what size he kept for me , just to try the grinding trick..
you might as well eat those first few pullet eggs, they are seldom good for hatching, wait until the eggs get up to standard size regularly .
we got a pullet egg in this last batch,, so maybe more will be laying soon.
I think some of the older ones are hiding their eggs in the lean-to. they seem to be spending a lot of time out there.
Brent, shed hunting, at first I thought you were expanding your flock, until I read it through. You need a dog trained for that. I was watching one of those old guys in the mountains and he had a dog who could sniff out sheds for him,
