My kitty that had grown up with my DD had to be put to sleep yesterday because of internal injuries suffered from being hit on Monday. This kitty and her brother who passed about two yrs ago were my first animals that I had as an adult that I did not have to share with my sister's or my mom. My first pets that I had in my first adult home. My DH and I made the heartbreaking decision to let her go when we found out what we would have to do to her twice a day for two weeks with no guarantee that her bladder would ever work again. Our DD kept asking questions on the way home from school ( we were hoping to tell her at home) so we ended up having to tell her on the interstate. Something good has come of this. While we were in the vet's office bawling to pick up her body to take her home for proper burial we found a posting for 3 free kittens ( when God closes one door he always opens another). We are planning on getting all three on Sunday. We told our DD's teacher what had happened and she ( God love her)told me that if Kathyrn did not do well on her tests today and tomorrow because she is grieving she will be allowed to retake the tests on Monday and Tuesday. I know this is long but you guys are the greatest listeners

Sorry about your kitty, but good luck with the new litter.

It's really great your DD has such an understanding teacher.
The loss of a pet can be very hard to deal with, but it can be extremely hard on children.
I personally think the best way to deal with a loss is to find something else to fill the void.

So Sorry for your lose but yes when GOd closes 1 door He opens another...I know its hard and sometimes you just cant help what we have to decide in this life. Some teachers are very understanding also. Good luck to you and your family in this ...

Sorry for your lose

It's so sad when you lose a good friend after so many years. Sorry about your kitty. But 3 kittens at Christmastime should be a blast! Your daughter's teacher is sweet and thoughtful, you don't hear about those kind of teachers anymore. Good luck with your new batch of furrbabies.

I've been there, I know just how hard it can be. I don't let my cats out anymore because it hurts too much when something happens to them outside.
Glad you found kittens.
