Sorry I haven't updated,,,, it's been very busy around here. Yes, Both twins hatched,,, but, both were underdeveloped, one more so than the other. Neither of them made it,,, the first lived for 3 days, the second, smaller one for a bit less. Neither had all the downy feathers a normal chick would have and neither ever really walked or stood on their own. Definitely alot of time, work, and hope. Talking to a couple of older gentlemen that I hang with at Green Dragon, not surprising at all, in fact neither had NEVER heard of a double yolk hatching. I did take pictures, just haven't gotten around to downloading into the pc yet.
The entire hatch didn't go well, but, I think I learned alot from it.
I have an adorable Cochin chick that hatched from that batch,, and she (very hopeful it's a girl), would keep one or both eyes closed when she woke up from her naps and couldn't find her way around, she would walk in little circles with her little wings extended for balance, so I called her dancer, thanks to these types of forums, I discovered she probably had a sinus infection, and after a few days of an antibotic,,,, she doing great. Needless to say we're both quite attached to eachother, and she's just adorable.
thanks for asking !

Did anyone else go to the poultry swap in Sharpsburg, MD ???
Nice swap meet, picked up 4 very nice Bantam Call Ducks very reasonably, and 5 Black and Blue Copper Marans.
I was wondering if anyone knows who donated the chicks to the Maryland Poultry Fanciers Association ???????
I can't remember the name of the farm, and I'd love to know what Marans lines I purchased.
thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

Well I guess everyone is hot or busy. I am going to buy more frozen veggies for the girls. Hatching Ameraucanas this weekend, two out so far. We finally got my daughter signed up for 4-H. She had lots of fun at the meeting. Next month is the fair, open and youth show. Its going to be the first show we ever went to. We are excited, we are going to practice grooming/bathing this weekend.

Hey, I was thinking the same thing, or maybe alien abduction? All the Pa chicken people have vanished!!! I'm busy too, but I still hop on here everyday to read the chicken gossip with coffee
. Blarneyeggs, Rodriguezpoultry, where have you gone???
Heather, good luck at the fair!! What is she showing? I'm thinking of putting my daughter in 4-H, She's been in Girl Scouts for 6 years, but she's been wanting to show chickens. Problem is I don't know the first thing about it. I have a lot of chickens, but don't know what would constitute show quality?
