Pekins can NOT fly. They may get a few inches off the ground if they try real hard but should be easily contained by a 3-4 ft fence. Mine are in 4 ft with no problems.

Speaking as a male, I liked those swimsuits when I was young.
I'm sure you still do.

PA is so spread out, isn't it? Everyone seems to stay on their side of the mountain. Up here, you can be from 10 minutes away, yet you've never even heard of the other person's town. I love when people say, "Oh! You're from PA? Do you know so-and-so? They're from such-and-such in whatchyacallit county." And you stare at them, confused, having no clue of which area they speak of, thinking of an answer that will make you seem more intelligent and less hillbilly, while crickets chirp in the distance.
I love how people from cities seem to think everyone in a town/village/etc should know each other... "Oh you're from Bloomsburg? You must know so and so" Me-"Nope." I love the blank stares, sometimes I say no even if I do know someone just for the reaction, or for plausible deniability reasons...like when people ask if I'm related to my sister
I have a brother like that.

I should know bad things happen in threes in my life. Last week it was the sick chicks - that I am still battling. So far only one more death and quite a few are showing improvement. Most of you do not know, but Sarah does... I have an elderly lady living with me and has been for almost 2yrs. She's 81 and going through a nasty divorce with a 20yr younger idiot. She's been done wrong, but seriously, I can see why he got fed up with her. Last year around Feb/Mar she fell and had compression fractures in her spine that also caused her to have a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. She doesn't want to take care of it or herself, to just cut to the case. For months I had to explain to her why it was so important to wash her hands after dumping her bag. And I had to point why it was bad to dump the bag in any container in her room and let it sit for days. I had to explain why it was bad to lay in her bed for hours after her colostomy bag and/or diaper leaked overnight. It's been trying. BTW, I am no relation to this woman in any way shape or form. My mom cleaned for her for 15yrs and with the divorce, she had to leave and none of her family wants anything to do with her. She held up the divorce by at least 3months last year while she was in the hospital/nursing home after her fall. She could have been out in June, but she refused to show any independence and wouldn't care for her colostomy bag on her own for the last 3 months.
Yesterday she gets a large letter in the mail from her friend that I have noticed she's been sneaking calls to when no one is around (and left a suspicious message on the machine) and I opened the letter. I flipped out. Here she's been having her friend call every agency she could and every elderly apartment place she could looking for a new place! My mom is POA and executor of the estate and we do EVERYTHING for her. We've already told her there is no way she can live on her own, but if she wanted to go to a nursing home, that was up to her. We've been telling her this since she came back from the fall in September. This BS, the sneaking and she wasn't telling her friend everything (she doesn't even know she has a colostomy bag). We have done everything we can to accommodate this woman and for her to do this?! What really irritates me is we are stuck in this house because we needed a 4 bedroom ASAP when she moved in with us. She knows we can't afford this place without her. I have been asking for months what she wants, and then to have it dropped on me like this when I literally have a month and a half to figure out what we are going to do because without her, we can not stay here.
Some days I wonder what the heck I have ever done to deserve the life I have. The BS is never ending.
So. I am waiting to hear what's happening with the mortgage we applied for so we can buy this place first. I should know by the end of this week. If we do not get pre-approved I will have to sell all my birds, the goat and rehome the cats. I'm absolutely appalled at the way we are being treated after going out of our way for her. I am upset that I finally have a decent flock of birds I want and now...
I feel for you Hon. I've been there, done that...for over 3 years. I finally sent her packing back to the nursing home after she called me everything but a white woman in front of my kids & informed me she was moving the end of the month. My reply was "If you want out so bad, go now." I handed her her purse & cane & called the squad to come get her. I also called her caseworker & doctor & they got her admitted immediately. You just have to know when enough is enough. You go out of your way to help someone & all they want to do it stomp all over you & be a jerk. For your own well-being you just need to know when to stop tolerating it.

WOW! This is pretty wrong! I volunteer at the nursing home, and let me tell you, I work with some of the sweetest little ladies ever. I have many times fallen in their laps sobbing at the unfortunate way that their life is ending. I think MANY of them are hardened by the disrespectful way that they have been treated AS they were growing old. I too will grow old one day and I certainly hope that people don't hate me because of my age. WOW!
There are all types in EVERY generation. You can't make a blanket statement about ANY group of people because people are individuals & no 2 are the same.
