Thanks, they are all good answers on the protein of fermented feed,,,,now could you all dummy that down for me just a little (or alot )...or better yet will it hurt the protein to much if i am just adding whatever grains i may have at the time,,,....the birds already eat lots of barley and wheat, simply because they will not stay where they belong,,,they prefer to help themselves to the field..

One of the easiest ways to give them more protein is with some dry cat food. You can imagine its like crack for them! I give mine the 4Naturals, from TSC. Its $26 I think for the biggest bag, and I just sprinkle some out, like meal worms. You also have to remember they are eating bugs outside, they count too!

Here is a link to a resource that lists some common grains and their protein percentage. I have seen quite a range of protein % listed for many of the grains, so I wouldn't take any single source of info as always right, but most are within 2% or so of each other.

I'll type more later... am at work and gotta go for now

maybe I am just over thinking this and should just keep a close eye on everyone each time i change the grain make up of the feed...it was easier to just open the bag and dump...
I forgot to add the rye to that mix,,,,this one is not intentional,,,again they prefer the field over the feed trough....I really should clip wings
