Missing neck feathers: You either have molting or a feather-picker. Pickers usually go for tails & backs so probably molting.

This is what I'm talking about

So far 5/7 have hatched. She is still sitting tight. 6 eggs were bantam Cochin and 1 egg a mystery chick. The egg was slightly larger and a little darker. It did hatch so now to wait for it to grow and see what it is.

Brooder pen empty and cleaned
Silo pen moved to dog pen amd cleaned
Small coop cleaned and ready for winter

This is just a small list of things I did not get done today.....this time change and just getting dark to early is really messing with me this year.........how's everyone else handling this??

No worries this time though, I have an appointment with the Captain tonight, and he has butter shots to follow.

Birds all get put to bed at 5 & then I'm stuck in the house with the kids til they go to bed.

I have lots of peeps available if you need to refill those pens!

Farmer Mike... I agree with Silkie... most likely molting or feather picking. At this time of year I'd go with molting first. Does she have a bunch on feathers growing in (will look like a porcupine under her other feathers). We have some hens who are showing no signs of molting and others who look absolutely pathetic and half bald from it right now.... they each have their own time tables to doing it.

Either molting or the roo likes her too much.
I would also say molting...I sure have some pathetic looking birds right now from the same

no refills right now, just moving everyone around for the winter, and then to decide which way to go in the spring.
By the way I no longer have the guinea, my neighbors little boy was so fascinated with them that I gave them to him....will be needing more when spring gets here for bug control.
