Heck, tell him they mail adults too. He will pass out! If he wants proof for that too, Meyer does have them.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day!! We are having our dinner with the "kids" tomorrow. All that food looks good silkie! Looking forward to finally having a piece of that pumpkin pie that has been staring at me in the fridge since Tuesday!!

I keep seeing these black-friday sales on tv...they have inundated every station...
I used to enjoy the "Black Friday" shopping when the girls were little. I would go out with my mother, we had a good time, crazy women shoppers!! hahha, I am glad not to do it anymore though...things are a little bit too nuts for me out there now. Nothing was easier than sitting at the computer dressed in PJ's, coffee in hand, clicking away...easy-peasy shopping..I don't even do that anymore...wow..
You know, i am enjoying the holidays even more now that it doesn't involve the "shopping" , that stress is just not here. I like to give gifts that we have made/baked/canned...everyone seems to enjoy them just as much as the "bought" things.

Oh I told him! I also told him they ship baby ducks, geese, turtles, geckos, ANYTHING. He was so impressed.

 ....okay now...respect your elders:old ...even if they are completely sure of their correctness..incorrectness....

That reminds me of the conversations with both my mom & grandpa (her dad) trying to convince them you do not have to have a roo, drake, tom, gander, etc. to get the hens to lay eggs. You only need the males if you want fertile eggs to hatch babies. Both of them lived on farms for years (grandpa still does) & neither of then knew this stuff.

I was so nervous all day, but nothing happened. Maybe the dog scared him away. I'm really proud that my dog looked around under the Jeep and then ran out to the coop just to check for them. Like, that's smart. He recognized that that's where the chickens lived and went to check on them. Enough bragging about my dog.

NEXT!!!

But I just figured that you guys would find it kinda funny that he did not believe they shipped chicks in the mail and thought it was just some joke some guy at the legion was telling him.
BRAVO Chumpy!!

I used to have to show people these pictures as they would NOT believe me that the chicks were mailed!

I was most impressed when I saw that they ship honey bees…..he'll never believe that one!

Pie would NEVER last that long at my house. I am looking forward to making some gifts this year too… These is a narrow window in between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, so I need to get on it!

This is interesting…. I rely on the advice of old time farmers constantly. Reminds me to keep things in perspective, trust myself and read, read….and then read some more.

So I'm a bit heart broken as the eggs I was counting on for the NYD are not going to work out. I dropped the ball. I look forward to this hatch so much, helps de~stress the holidays. I was already in a crappy mood. The eggs I had lined up are really what I needed and counted on for breeding forward.

Thanksgiving with the in~laws can be so overwhelming, I leave there feeling like a punching bag, the amount of disrespect that is displayed toward me, my children, husband and to each other….never ceases to shock and amaze me.

I'm thinking hard on some advice given to me by a dear friend which was…'If you wanna be offended……go ahead.' So I'm trying hard to choose NOT to be offended, to shrug my shoulders and think 'people are odd' and move along.

AND YES! I shopped yesterday. We stuck through Thanksgiving Dinner, had dessert, helped clean up and said our good byes. We were home before 6 so….why not?

I'm actually rather glad we stayed home this year. Usually, we go to my grand parents' house & then do our own the Sunday after. They decided to run to Florida a week early this year when they heard we had snow coming...lol...WHIMPS!!!!! At least they saved me having to put up with all the relatives I don't get along with & not have to listen to JJ keep asking when we can leave...lol

Blarney, that kind of behavior is why I stayed home alone instead of going to DH's family's get together. It is bad enough when he is with me. I wasn't going to do it alone!
I do get to look forward to a group meal on Sunday. A couple invited me to their family's meal. I know everyone, so I said yes.

Sorry about the hatching eggs....and relatives can be a PIA....I've found it useful to push back and not worry if somebody takes offense(yeah, its the delco in me)...if nothing else, they will usually measure what they say to you more carefully....

Hi Everybody,

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We ended up going out to eat dinner with DS, the grandkids and my dad. It was very nice, and I didn't miss having to clean up, but I do miss leftovers. We're planing to roast a smoked turkey on Sunday so there will be leftovers for stepson and granddaughters to eat after deer hunting.

Things have been crazy busy here. My dad had bypass surgery in October, and is doing well now, but we had a couple hectic weeks due to that. I've been making lots of soap for a couple upcoming craft shows, and a new wholesale account. We installed a different coal stove and a new floor in the living room. DH is having hip replacement surgery on Tuesday, so we're scrambling to get home improvement type projects done before that. In a perfect world, we're still hoping to replace the toilet and vanity in the downstairs bathroom before then so the room will be more accessible while he's using the walker. Not sure if that will happen or not.

To keep this chicken related, a couple of my spring hatched Ameraucanas have started to lay, but not regularly. Nothing yet for the marans pullets. DH had built me what I call the chicken palace, which is really a 14' x 40' pavilion that my kennel runs (for chickens) are under. For now, the runs are covered with white tarps as windbreaks, with cattle panels over the top to keep predators out. Sometime within the next couple weeks, I'll install clear drop-down curtains over the open, south facing side, that I can lower in nasty weather. Come spring, each pen will get a low pressure watering system using those bell waterers from a commercial chicken barn. If I can figure a way to keep the lines from freezing, without electricity, they'll get installed sooner.
