I went out about 0900 to check water and collect eggs, DH had done it at 0600 prior to going to work. I opened the pop door so they could go out into the run if they wanted. Over half of the birds headed right out to the covered run. (Most of the rest were interested in begging treats, go figure )
I went back out at 2 pm for egg and water check and found the buckeye 'teenagers' all standing at the gate (which isn't a covered area of the run) waiting to be let out. I opened the gate and sure enough they all marched out and spread around the yard checking out their favorite spots. They are now under my carport (insert 'glorified storage area' here) relaxing in a pile of loose hay which is stored under there, the afternoon sun is angled just right to hit the pile so it is their favorite afternoon lounge. I really should clean up that area but I don't need it till spring so may as well let the birds have their playhouse I guess.
It's a balmy 12* in the sun, I don't even know what the wind chill may be.... and the silly birds are out and about.... go figure
