I blu-koted 2 roos & a hen. I think I have more on me than ended up on all 3 of them combined. I'm spotted from the waist up!

You guys are posting so fast! I was fifty pages behind. I actually read them all. Hey, I'm on vacation! Yay Poconos!

Silkie, your poor little chicken with the missing feet, I'm sure she will be okay, animals are tough!

Blarney, your rooster is so gorgeous! Even with cream on his comb and wattles.

I am getting so excited to get chicks soon, even though I don't yet have a source (help!). Where are you located Blarney? You look like you have some wonderful things hatching...:fl

Welcome new people!

Has anyone ever hear of Backwoods Home Magazine? It is the BEST homesteading magazine out there, and I think many of you would enjoy it. The most recent issue detailed a homesteader who set up an indoor fodder system to grow several trays of greens for her animals in her living room, made out of PVC pipe!

Vacation ends tomorrow, and then I have a lot of packing and shipping to do on Ebay. Woo Hoo extra income!

Now we are headed out to dinner. :love

I also have a roo with frost bite....I had to bring him inside for treatment....His wattles were really swollen and he stopped eating....he wouldn't bend over and was shaking his head alot....I gave him tetracycline in his water and fed him scrambled eggs every day...I also bluecoated his crop as they started to bleed....today is his second day back outside...he's not 100% yet, but, he happy not to be stuck in a crate...I will need to watch him closely...

I hope he continues to get better for you! I think the best thing you can do is beef up their vitamins and protein for healing and try to keep any infections at bay. I pumped up my flocks vitamins and added mealworms to their feed a few days before the cold came, during the cold and a few days after and it seems to have helped. Even the frostbitten boys seem to be feeling OK.

I've found the best 'juice' is scrambled eggs....I also use corn to carb the chooks....and lastly is any thing goes haywire....start the antibiotics asap.....my guy isn't 100% yet, but, he's off the ledge and is strong enough to be back with the girls....(makes him a happy camper)...me too...

I bet he is! The boys do worry about their girls. Yes, they love the scrambled eggs too. I even baked mine a flock block to help them through the cold! LOL

yeah, got the tea shirt.....had a smudges on both hands and on one of my cheeks...took a few days to get it off....c'est la vie......

I was wearing a thin tank top so it even went through. Got splattered by a hen & then a roo. I have spots all the way down both arms, across my cleavage, down my stomach, on my neck, across my face & top & bottom of both feet. Apparently I stepped in drips on the garage floor. Luckily, I had on sweat pants so at least my legs are unspotted.
