that was sooo bad..Yesterday a co-worker asked me: Why do chicken coops always have 2 doors?
Because if they had 4 doors they would be chicken sedans . . .

Sadly, her chicks have almost no chance of looking like their mom. That is an unfortunate downside of the otherwise beautiful mixed breeds. They could prove to be an inspiration for a devoted geneticist to try to replicate their coloring, but that is all, they are the end of the line for their particular phenotype.
Maybe someday we will have Star Trek style tricorders we can point at a bird and it will report their exact genetic makup, then it could be replicated, either by careful breeding, or with one of them Star Trek replicators . . .
Very cool! Now if I have some questions..i will know who to ask!
Oh yeah..I used to get this candy at a store,(in Lititz)....Absinthe..tasted awesome!! Like black licorice..Never got to try the beverage though, always wanted too:/
I am just starting out..just with the plants I have right now are mostly common herbs, a few perennials...there is a lot to learn and understand. Some of these plants are like mushrooms..they can look very similar, but have different effects..some not so good! Just going with the easy stuff now, getting familiar with them, then i will take one new plant at a time.
I will give those a look...Thank you for the insight!! I am not interested in birds with an over abundance of foot-feathers...
wow..weird...is that stuff on the left the "shell" or the egg-whites?....I am sorry I can't be of any help...
Not all feather-footed breeds have the same amount of feathers. For example, Marans can have feathered feet but never enough for it to present any problems at all, but look up Bredas or Sultans to see an extreme example. It can really inhibit their ability to walk with enough feathers on their feet.
well THANK you so very much!...I was opposed to feathered leg birds...just because of the whole "stuff" sticking to them, but having these two babies w/ feathered feet..i see it is not so much of an issue....HUmmm, Brahmas.....will have to check them out a little more too...I know Sally-S. raises them ..do you Sharron?
YES-YES...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!..glad hubby took good care of you!!
I don't believe I have too much growing around here that would hurt the birds....some egg plants/potatoes/..rhubarb...but they don't get to go "willy-nilly" through that stuff.definitely have to be careful with plants. for example, hemlock and queen annes lace look alike but hemlock is poisonous and queen annes is called wild carrot cause the root tastes like and resembles carrot. but an expert would detect the difference. i wanted to plant a "gothic" garden with plants like belladonna and foxglove but not with chickies roaming around. they do however like my regular herb garden.
