I've lived in Perry County for 20+ years. Grew up in Taylor (northeast PA). I used to have pet chickens and ducks when I was a child. Although I've talked about getting chickens for many years, I probably wouldn't have taken the plunge if a darn RIR hen hadn't wandered into our yard and adopted us. No one in the neighborhood claimed her, and I felt sorry for her, knowing it would soon be winter. I'm soooo glad - I, my son, and my husband are thoroughly enjoying our girls.

Happy chickens to us all!

Oh yes this is how it looked in south central PA on Saturday. It didn't last long though.

I also have some black ameraucanas. I love the blue eggs they lay!

Owner of: Buff ameraucanas, black ameraucanas, araucanas, easter eggers, one barred rock hen and several silkies.

We have Ameraucanas, Rumpless Araucana and Easter Eggers. Used to have Silkies until a Raccoon took the life of our last silkie hen.

Morgantown here- in Berks, but close to Lancaster and Chester counties. I have some mutts I am willing to trade or sell, and will have more in spring. I'm also willing to spit orders of meatbirds with anyone close who want to!
