Wanted to post the progress on my sister's coop. I really didn't get much done yesterday because I had to go pick up (and catch!) the chickens from my FIL and then drive all the way back to Pittsburgh yesterday. And it was so hot yesterday that I wasn't very productive even in the little time I did have. They have no shade thete and it was nearly 100 degrees... pretty sure i had a little heat exhaustion going on. So all I did yesterday was the doors, the rest was all done on Sunday. I was hoping to have the siding all up before I came home but that didn't happen. Still pretty good for a days worth of work and $30 in wood! All my sister will have to do is finish nailing up the pallet wood for the siding and put a roof on. I expect I'll be helping her finish up when I bring her chickens back for her on Halloween weekend, lol. She's going to enjoy finishing and painting it, but she's not a builder, hahaha. Will post pictures of the finished coop at Halloween time!
Doors - they are going to try to get some old hinges from his brother so they aren't hung yet
There are tracks for a run door that will slide up and down, just need to finish siding this wall and the wall under the window (they'll put plexiglass glass over the windows in the winter). The legs are each going to get a second 2x4, but they are going to add some old lawn mower wheels so they can move it each season (closer to the house in the winter, out by the garden in the summer).
Nest box just needs to be covered with pallet wood and have a hinged door. This window will be covered w plexiglass for the winter too.
AND, my girls lost the plans that I drawn up so I had to build from memory! I let the girls hold onto the plans when we were picking up the wood from Lowe's on Saturday... I don't think they made it back to the car because I could not find them anywhere.Edited by emorems0 - 9/8/15 at 9:22am
