Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

I am also just getting started (chicks coming in april) I am from schuylkill county as well (schuylkill Haven)

Ordered the gals this morning, and built my peep box. Got 2 Plymouth Rocks, 2 Black Stars, and 2 Rhodebars to pick up in a couple weeks (Lancaster).

Gathering coop materials, and getting anxious!

Does anyone know someone or somewhere I can get ducklings other than tractor supply? I'm located in the state college area and not trying to drive too far out of my way.

Thanks a lot!

Highly recommend http://www.metzerfarms.com/index.cfm! They have a very wide selection and very low shipping minimums. I've purchased as little as 8 from them and never had a DOA or weak duck that didn't make it, all of them were strong and beautiful!

WELCOME to all new comers I missed!

My husband just told me I can get an emu.....I don't know if he realizes what he just got himself into lol

I can hook you up with those ;) there's a girl in the 4H club with Emus laying fertile eggs right now

I pulled 64 black sexlink chicks from the incubator tonight, and a dozen turkeys. And 35 Cream Legbars.

LeBlackbird is coming by tomorrow for Chanteclers and Welsummers.

It was nice seeing you again! Somehow I was able to just leave with just those and not more! LOL

You know I'll be back though

Hi! I have a mixed flock of pet chickens, and one rooster that I need to find a home for. He was supposed to be a girl, but I guess they got that one wrong! Of course, this would be the chick that my middle child claimed as her own... I'd keep him but my neighbors are very close behind us and he crows all the time. I don't want to get in trouble for breaking the noise ordinance... Any ideas on how I can find him a new home (that won't lead to him being someone's dinner)? We've just moved here last fall and so far haven't met anyone else with chickens, or a farm.
Hey there! PA is kinda big, where abouts are you? Roosters are very hard to rehome to pet homes. Your best bet to rehoming him is if he's a full breed of some sort. Do you know what breed he is?

If all else fails, I've heard of a pet store or hardware store or something like that in Collegeville? Where they have an empty cage, you take your bird there, drop it off...and it's gone. I suspect someone down the line is most likely eating them, but sometimes it's easier just to 'not know'. Sorry I'm vague on the details, we've never used this option. I can get more info if you're interested.

Quote: Stake is right, these Polish cockerels seem a little easier to re-home. Yours looks like a Gold Laced Black or Black Laced Gold...
