oh wow $150 is a lot of money to pay for some eggs! https://www.ebay.com/itm/252682281504

They are pretty eggs but they don't even know the name of the breed they raise.
Ice Cream Bar Chicken Hatching
With the $20 shipping that makes them almost $15 an egg. Mine are more rare with a beautiful egg and I only charge $2 per egg. I need to raise the price. At least I know the name of my breed.

Sounds like they mixed something and they gave it a name since it isn't a purebred. Who's going to pay that much if they say "Easter Egger"?

Maybe we should all write to the seller :D

Must be why they posted such a pathetic pic of the bird :/

Time to hunker down for the cold. Calling for wind chills of -18 tomorrow and 2-4 inches of snow. Kids are already on a 2 hour delay.

BRRRRRRR stay safe everyone!

One of my bantam cochins didn't make it back to her coop this evening. I've looked all over and can't find her. Why did she pick one of the coldest nights to try to stay out? I'm praying she's hiding broody somewhere, hoping that a predator didn't get her. :hit

"Ice Cream Bars" are crosses between Isbars and Legbars. Other than a clever name, I see no reason to do this. They would not be autosexing and they will lay greenish eggs -- so yeah, basically an Easter Egger.

I would much rather buy your Black Penedesencas that this person mixed breeds. If I put a male black Pene over my Welbar pullets, I would get black sexlinks that lay dark eggs. Now I just need a clever name:
Welnedesencas ?
Penedesummers ?

The chicks from my November hatch are growing fast! It looks like the CCL babies are going to have some decent crests :) I was concerned about that since my replacement roo doesn't exactly have a crest.

And some of the turkeys :)

Yes and tell them what they are called.

I was locking up last night and walking to another building when a couple hens came around the corner so luckily I opened the door again so they went back in.

I did not know that was a thing.
I don't see a reason either. IMHO, if one has an extremely rare breed, it is incumbent upon them to do their best to perpetuate the breed, not outcross them.

How about PenedesEEs

I still had an EE hen this year. I hatched one of her eggs mated with a Pene roo.
Here's a couple of her daughter's olive eggs.
