We lost one of our 14 year old cats this February. One of the other 14 year olds has been um, messy for over a year. VERY loose stools. He leaks. Has lost about 5 lbs to only 8 from his high of 13. He is still very interested in eating, loving on Jada, doesn't mind the pup, and wants loving. Uh, no. not on my lap with that messy butt. We have tried every thing from probiotics to pancreatic something to prednezone to a heap of other diets and supplements. Nothing is working and he seems to be slightly wobbley on his feet even if he can jump up on the dryer for his food. So we are also looking at Rainbow Bridge soon. Neither my husband nor I want to make this decision.

It’s torture for sure.

My sister is an RN. I recorded the dog wheezing today. Her first response was to call me, and ask if his collar was too tight. I guarantee it’s not.
She said the sound is tracheal. For all the lumps that I can see and feel on his body, one of them might be on his trachea.
I’ve been sleeping with a deep bowl of water at the bed level on a chest. Otherwise, the dog’s coughing makes him thirsty, and it leads to worse sounds. Now I can stay in bed until at least seven.
This morning he had the energy to ask for attention. I helped him to lay on his back, and he flat out stopped breathing. No coughing or gasping. He just stopped. Obviously I flipped him back quickly!
He strains to go to the bathroom sometimes, but has to be let out a million times a day even if he’s not drinking.
Anyway... he’s not comfortable anymore. “It’s better to say goodbye a week too early, than even a day too late.”

I was out digging (in flip flops. What was I thinking?!). After several failed attempts, I finally got the shovel deeper than six inches. The rocks in the ground are no joke! :th
I think it’s deep enough for his body, but obviously not for its intended purpose. I will work more tomorrow, and keep something over the area. I have a prefabricated coop if nothing else.

Hi Everyone,
I know this is a busy thread and a lot of folk talk to each other. About 3 years ago a poultry breeder in Blairsville , PA named Carl Thompson sold a small flock of Light Sussex to a person ( believed to be a gentleman rather than a lady) in Erie, PA. I am seeking to converse with that buyer. If anyone knows anything about this flock I would sure appreciate a heads up. I would like to buy a couple of birds from the person in Erie. Any help anyone can give me is so appreciated. I have been looking for months and had no success locating this buyer. Thanks so much for any help you can give even if it is only a crumb down the grapevine. Please feel free to pass out my email. It is the best way to contact me. Here is my phone 724-420-1358 in case the buyer does not have the internet.
Best Regards,
Karen in Ligonier, PA [email protected]

I don't think this is the breeder you are looking for and I am not sure how they would transport, but they look like nice light sussex (to me). Cut and pasted --including pictures ) from FB. I wouldn't mind a hen or two myself!

Light Sussex flock avail. Exhibition & Breeder Quality. New Hampshire US. NPIP.
All birds were hatched in late spring 2017. 2 cock birds and 5 Light hens, one Coronation hen. Some of the hens were exhibited at major shows, including winning Reserve English at Ohio Nationals 2017.
Some or all of these birds may be split for Coronation, I have hatched several chicks, and one Coronation was produced from one trio.
Several chicks also avail, hatched July 2018.
This is a rare opportunity to get started in Sussex with some fabulous birds. I'd love to sell all of them to the same person. Pick up in New Hampshire. Transport to major New England shows, possibly Ohio Nationals if not sold by Nov. Not shipping via USPS.
PM me for pricing and other details.

Yes these are nice birds. They originally came from Tina B.'s flock and Leela raised them. Leela has decided to specialize in the Speckled Sussex. the reason I am looking for the buyer in Erie is that he has birds related to mine and it would really help my linebreeding project.
Thanks for the heads up!
Karen
