Downtown Philly... really?  And how are you hiding your chickens?  Just curious...

D

They stay behind their fence, I get rid of any that are too loud, and nobody complains! I can see city hall from my bedroom window.

There are more than a few chickens in West Philly, but I haven't found any others in Center City yet.

OM gosh! I can't believe you can see city hall from your window!!! ep  I am just roaring with laughter! That is just too cool! I've been there several times. Was there when the Phillies won the second game of the world series in 1980. Man! That concrete was rockin in that old stadium! How many do they allow you to have in center city?   I'm from Bucks County originally. Above Doylestown.

The official legal number allowed is ZERO! Ha ha ha. Do you think I'm pushing my luck with my new rooster? He is mating the girls, but to date hasn't made a peep.

No longer in Philadelphia! Now in the Central NY/ Albany region!

From what I know if there isn't a complaint, the city ignores their existence. I kn that certain areas the shop keeps have live chickens for sale. A friend bought one planning to have it on the table. She was unable to complete the task. She now has a few "rescued" pets. She can still go to the supermarket and buy a bird there, but can't seem to deal with the live ones.
She keeps buying live ones that she sees at the markets and has them in her backyard.
