Sick Sheep. Can anyone offer any advice?

I use Levamisole but it's almost impossible to find right now

Here are some of the different worm treatments available:

I didn't realize that I had some Levasole (levamisole hydrochloride - sheep wormer boluses) sitting right in my kitchen. The people that sold me the barbado gave me about 20 pills when I bought the sheep. DUH me. I'll have to ask them where they got theirs from.

If a female is pregnant, can you still administer the pill? or If I plan on breeding her in the next couple of weeks, can I still administer the pill to her?

I preer to do it before breeding, and then agan after lambing

It's hard to find now because it was manufactured in China and an earthquake destroyed the factory.

The company that produces it is in the process of getting a new facility approved.

Most places are out of it, and no one knows when more will be available

I use the powder form that's mixed with water, so I dont have to cram a pill down the throats

Good luck!

I've also heard that it's hard to find because A) cattle people have all but abandoned it in favor of avermectins which killed the demand and B) they're in final stages of testing it for human GI cancer treatment.

And I've heard the earthquake thing, too..

I dunno what to believe anymore...something you can believe is that when I found 87 boluses left in a 100ct bottle being sold per bolus (as a convenience) at a feed store, I bought every single bolus they had left.

They were like...."We sell them individually, and they're kinda expensive. Are you sure you want them all, because if you'll just tell us how many you need..."

Yeah, that won't be necessary -- I want them ALL.

Goats take 1.5x the dosage of sheep, which means a 150lb animal gets like 4.5 boluses.. What's left in the bottle would barely treat 20 head of adult goats..

I haven't used a single bolus yet, though...they'll sit quietly on my shelf as "The Nuclear Option," to be used when all else fails. That's actually the only reason I bought them.
