Ivy, that's great you have wild turkey called in!  Wow!  Seymore doesn't call in any.  And she can be loud on occasion, too.  Well I'd love to show you this diaper ON a duck... but we'll have to wait until Danz gets it and model's it on Chopper.  I hope it fits!  In the meantime, I do think I'll make one for Zorro, too!   This is where I got the "pattern" :

This is a thread that shows the bird IN the diaper here:

I know a family in town whose dogs will leave the fenced area when the battery gets low enough, so you have to stay on top of that, as well.

DH got home from his class early so we got caught up on mowing. Now everyone's yard will look nice for Easter.

Tweety, that 5 generation photo is something very special.

Pikeman, I'm glad you found Sesame. I'm looking forward to eggs in shades of something besides brown. That is, if mine aren't all roos!

Trish, the chicks are so cute when they're all fuzzy and round like that.

Josie, those dogs are beautiful.

My Viszla, Tai, is making the most riduculous sounds and trying to climb on my lap. It's dinner time and she's a big ole cry-puppy!

Another very busy day here. I ended up so far with 32 chicks and 5 ducks that hatched today. DH turned the board on the new brooder box upside down and I put a small fan in the brooder to keep the air moving. I just put all those newly hatched chicks in the same box of death and I sure hope they do Ok. I guess the only way to find out is to use it.

We went to Iola with a friend and she got 22 turkens. Ugly little things. Of course I didn't have any polish to sell after my mishap but there was something about that woman I didn't care for. Rarely someone strikes me that way. It's an intuition thing but it has always proven pretty accurate. I was kind of relieved I wasn't selling her birds.

I bought some more kennel panels cause they were on sale and DH decided he wanted enough for two kennels instead of one. So I spent nearly $500 on panels. Ouch! I definitely need to sell some more birds now!!!  They had one cage that had 5 meaties in it that looked at least a week old. Huge compared to their others. So I bought all 5 of them. I really didn't want to raise meaties until I had more room but these were off to a good start. I made DH promise to remind me I had to butcher them in 8 weeks or so.

Oh Hawkeye they had some polish at Orshlen's. Whi/blk, silver laced, gold laced and pure white.

I put my baby geese in the greenhouse today. Those suckers are amazing. That thing was full of 18" high weeds everywhere but in the center where I'd had plants sitting all winter. In one afternoon they had eaten the entire thing down. My yard really needs mowed since I have my ducks penned up.  I'm thinking I'm going to have to build a portable pen and just move the geese from place to place every day. I put a heat lamp in there for night time. I think they'll be okay until I can throw something together for them to stay in.

Well, it's time to put my feet up. I'm beat.

Danz, you have the same kind of 6th sense I have about people. I haven't met very many like you described, but when I have it definitely gives you a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. I met a guy one time who was dating a friend of mine, I looked into his eyes & saw pure evil there, it gave me the shivers. I told my friend about it & it turned out later I was right on, he was violent & crazy on top of it. She told me later she should have listened. Wow, I'll bet your brooder is really full now, I hope they do all right in there.

I now have 4 chicks hatched, 3 Ameraucanas & 1 EE. IVY, I'm pretty sure the last one that hatched is a Lavender, it's lighter than the other two. I haven't seen any more eggs starting to pip yet. I know some of them can be late too, so I'll leave the eggs in there a day or two after due date to make sure. I will put a few more in the hatcher on Sunday & there will be some going in for several days until all the ones I had in the incubator before the mailed ones are in there. Then I will have room for my turkey eggs to go in. Now I'm looking for peacock eggs to hatch. The ones on eBay seem to be going pretty high, so I would like to find some elsewhere if I can. Nobody on the swap has any laying right now, I guess they start laying later in April.

I've just been totally exhausted today, even the nap I took didn't help that much. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow because I have things I have to get done.

I always forget something I was going to write after I send my post. Danz, when I had geese before my yard was just weed-free, they loved the dandelions, so I never had any of those at all. My yard was the prettiest ever when I lived in Derby & had geese. I let them roam all over the yard until night & then they went in a pen, but they didn't ever leave my yard at all.

Is it just me or are the dandelions wildly out of control this year? I just didn't have that many last year and this year it looks like a dandelion lawn, except the very front yard. What the heck? I'm in need of geese! What kind do you have Danz?

I've had that feeling once or twice. The worst was when I was at a new friend's house. She was showing me some custom painting she'd done on a dining table and chairs. She and her husband were separated -- I had never met him. He showed up while I was there and when I looked him in the eyes as she introduced us, I knew he was about to take their 7 month old son and run. He excused himself to the restroom and I whispered to her "He's about to take the baby, get him and go, NOW". She looked at me like I was crazy. I tried again "Take the baby NOW, leave me here, I'll make an excuse. Trust me, please". She didn't. He came out of the restroom picked up their son and dashed out the door. She ran after him pleading with him to stop. It broke both our hearts. He peeled out of the driveway and left her standing there in complete shock. She kept asking me how I knew. I didn't know how I knew, but I could feel it and see it in his eyes. I can still see those eyes, they were just dead looking. It was two months before she saw her son again. Yuck. How can a man do that to his own child? You know that poor baby cried for mama. Trust your instincts, I say. Life can sure get messy.

Here's a pic of some of the Alohas getting in their little wing feathers. DD put a calendar behind them "for effect". She's been taking pictures since she was 10 (3 yrs ago) and really is pretty darn good at it.

KarenS, awww they're so cute! I have 5 chicks so far, 4 Ameraucanas & 1 EE hatched. Every time I hear a bunch of loud peeping I have to go downstairs & see if there is another chick. The others seem to pick on the new guy for some reason. Did yours do that?

Yes they did. Not severely but good grief. Also any peeping from a pipped or zipped egg caused undue interest from the already hatched. They would stagger around and roll the egg, but it all turned out okay. Sometimes it seemed like they were trying to help the new one out of the egg by chipping away at the hole in the egg. Who knows, but it was very interesting!
