The adventures of Barbara (BR)

Oh Mrs. Chickendad, I am so sorry. I have been somewhat absent from BYC lately and hadn't realized what happened to Barbara and friends/flock. I am so very very sorry. Because of Barbara I ordered two barred rocks with our first flock. Amelia, a BR, was our first flyer but at about a year she developed some strange disease where she would fall over and stumble around. I spent many hours nursing her and we became fast friends. She still loves to sit on my lap and I think she is one of the best pets I have ever owned. I owe that all to you and Barbara. If your writing hadn't been so engaging, and Barbara so fantastic I don't think I would have ever had barred rocks in my flock. And as it stands Amelia and Bubbles (EE) are the hands down favorites. Thank you so much for your writing and for your heart and for giving Barbara the life that any chicken would have loved to have. Again, my condolences.

Oh, Mrs. Chickendad, I'm SO SORRY! I subscribed to the feed, but seemed to have lost the updates along the way and missed your sad news until just now! I'm so sorry to hear about all your flock and such a large loss all at once!

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's just terrible to lose a chicken(s), I cried all yesterday afternoon when my Wyandotte Dottie had to be put down at the vet for having a bad prolapse. I wanted you to know Mrs. Chickendad I named my new Wyandotte Wendy. She acts just like a Wendy Wyandotte. I really appreciate all your stories, they always cheer me up:)

I'm very, very sorry for your loss. You obviously gave Dottie much caring & care. It sounds like it was the right thing for her to go, though you will be missing her.
I'm glad you'll have the chance to be caring for a sweet new hen.
Best wishes to you.

Like others who have been absent from the thread for some time, I just read of the horrendous tragedy at the Chickendad's. Please accept my late condolences on the loss of so many of your fabulous feathered family members - especially Barbara.
