Sheryl I'm so sorry about the duckling.  I was afraid of that when you told me he had pipped so early.  Since they need the full 28 days (well a day early is ok) to develop and absorb the egg yolk it is not a good sign when they pip that early.      sad.png

Cute bunnies Missy!  Too cute!  It's gonna be hard to eat them!

hugs.gif Awe, thank you Sunny. Yeah I could sorta tell when I got home he had already died and I watched it and it never moved again.

I have 2 eggs with pips in them right now. S4 hasn't zipped yet, it only pipped and keeps rocking. So right now S4 and M1 has pipped. Today is the day they are to pip.

Speaking of pipping, almost all of my seeds sprouted last night!  I started them all on Tuesday.  The kale is almost 2 inches tall, overnight, and craving sunshine.  I rushed it outside this morning.  Luckily, the nightshades are just barely coming up, but I have to get my artificial light area ready today, since I can't build the greenhouse for a few more days.

Hello everyone:

I am new to this thread and just starting to look into raising chickens for eggs.  I live in Vegas and am mostly concerned about the heat.  Any recommendations on heat tolerance with chickens?  What breds are best?  Where to get chicks?
