Chicks are all fluffed up and cute now. 13 of the 14 hatched. All but one of the chicks are buff x wheaten. I got fooled and thought I was setting eggs from my splash wheaten, but unknown to me, one of the buffs lays a pretty blue egg! The chicks with the dark stripe on their heads are from the blue, egg laying buff hen.

Lol!  You know, this whole chicken hatch thing could be a new gambling game in Reno.  Ok, who wants to bet on the odds that the one wheaten is a pullet?

Chickens: faverolles, australorps, Delaware, barred rock, welsummer, silver laced wyandotte, lavender and buff x wheaten ameraucanas, BLRW, blue and splash andalusian, cochin, exchequer leghorn, silkie, brabanter, minorca, turken, RIR, brahma, speckled sussex...Ducks: two welsh harlequins, two blue swedish...  Two dogs, a snake, two parents and two kids... and food gardens everywhere else.

Well, so much for hatching out some wheatens for you.  roll.png   I plan to set some eggs from my two best hens (splash and blue wheaten) in the near future and they will be the ONLY ones in the pen so there will be no more mistakes! 

 

I think Sunny better come get her chicks pronto because I am falling in love with all of them! love.gif   This is a very mellow, sweet bunch of babies.

Lol it's ok.  We had a higher survival rate here at the flock than I expected.  I can't say the same for egg production, but I guess we'll have to see how that turns out.
