Thanks, Sunny!  I had a sleep number bed before - and I hated it! Their ad says it works for 93% of people's back pain - I guess I'm in the 7% 'cause it didn't help at all. And, it was very expensive! This foam bed I got from Costco for $500! I haven't noticed it being too warm, but it is supposed to "breathe". It is 12 inches thick and has 3 layers. The brand is NovaForm and it's even made in USA. It was $100.00 cheaper than shown on the link in-store.

I've heard often that memory foam is too warm.  Our house isn't air-conditioned, and my husband is a human furnace.  If I put more than 1 blanket on the bed during the summer, he sleeps in another room.  So far, back problems aren't in our list.

There are so many emotions thrown around when it comes to weight, eating healthy, and choosing a certain style of eating.  So many people that want to throw around advice.  Last year, when Russ and I lost 30lbs each, we just plain learned not to talk about our diets.  Since it was heart-attack related, we had people yelling at us to stop eating red meat.  When we said that we only eat meat 1 or two times a week, the same people would yell at us that we can't just stop eating meat.  We didn't follow a "diet," but just exercised whenever we could, and made a rule that, if something was ready to be harvested out of the garden, we had to eat it.  No letting garden produce sit on the counter and going out for burgers.  But people noticed our weight loss and demanded to know how we did it.  We told them, and they yelled at us for not eating enough calories.  Which was unsubstantiated, because I logged every single meal to be sure, and they came to the perfect number of calories, without trying, as long as we just ate produce whenever we could.

It just plain comes down to choice.  I can choose to sit on BYC or I can take a walk.  I can choose to complain about stress, or I can do yoga.  I can choose to blame it on my thyroid, or I can actually get my thyroid tested and get on medication if necessary.  I can choose to drive past the McDonald's, and to give up cable TV, then put the extra money toward heathier food.  It's soooo human to make excuses.  We have a friend who is a HUGE excuse maker, and listening to him has really made me more aware of excuses I make.  He complains that he can't get a girlfriend, when he never showers, doesn't exercise, and won't leave his house.  Duh.  So I can complain about my weight, or I can choose not to eat the burger that I just wolfed down while reading everyone's posts.  Doing all this garden work isn't going to do a thing for my physique if I keep eating burgers.

I would like to walk around the mall.  I'm not going to make any plans to, because we have a lot going on right now.  One vehicle, crazy schedules, responsibilities at home, and whatever this fatigue crud is.  So I'm just not going to make promises then break them.  But if people are going, let me know and I'll see if I can meet up there.

Yes some people get extremely vocal about it and some people are just plain rude!  It's nice to read all the comments on here and realize what a sane group of folks we have.  I will not ever promise to never eat another burger (but not Mickey Ds.  I can't eat their burgers either), I like them too much, and I do love to p!ss & moan so I probably won't stop that either, lol, but I do enjoy these conversations.  I'm afraid I'm one of those people that likes a lively debate at times.  I get bored if I hang around folks that agree with me all the time.     :)

now a mattress ad is appearing at the top of my BYC!  Big brother is watching! 

We don't have the human furnace because we have the thermal puppy (Tibbs the greyhound) who likes to crawl up into bed between us and lay along the backside.... Great and welcomed in the winter or when sore, but impossibly warm in the summer.   And in the summer he's into bed-hogging and turns into a mass of pointy feet....  Luckily he sides with husby, so I don't get the prodding so often.  I'm just glad the St. Bernard cross isn't interested in sneaking onto the bed or we'd need a custom-wide matress for sure.

I'm pretty sure there's a matress conspiracy about.... What's with this ad about getting a new matress every 8 years?  (Ten pounds of skin cells a year and zillions of dustmites???)  Did anybody even think that before the ad came out?  Does anybody weigh their matress yearly?  Heck, I'm pretty sure Mom has a mattress older than my sister...which would mean it weighs half a ton by now if the ad is right.   My matress (still holding up...it was an extra firm and just now getting a tad comfy) is 25 years old and still looks great.  But 25 years ago I paid through the nose for it ($1500)....prorated it's worth every penny.   Sis has one of those space-age memory foam matresses.  She sleeps great on it, but it kind of puts a damper on frisky biz.  I slept on it one night and found it difficult to turn over on.  Oh, well....   Different strokes for different folks.

I'm fairly convinced the body's warranty is up at 35 and it's nothing but maintenance from there on out....
