That is so cool!

I've also heard of people who didn' get good results from the carpal tunnel surgery. But I was living and working in San Francisco at the time and had excellent insurance, and my doctor was one of the top people in the country for carpal tunnel.

Yeah, it doesn't quite work that way.  Ask my husband.  Have you ever heard the saying, "Don't take your work home with you"?  Because that's what everyone wants to do when they get home from work... more of the same work!  Sure, honey!  Let me finish dinner and the dishes, and then I'll tuck the kids in bed, drink some caffeine, and get right back to work again.  tongue.png  He does get them for birthdays and Father's Day, though.  And we work out trades together... after culling those sick chicks a few months back, I gave him a hot stone massage.

That's how we did it in backcountry Idaho.  Well, maybe not the leftover animal parts... a buckskin or two, or a steer skull.  Ok, so we traded for leftover animal parts as well.  And I love running into people who still love doing it.  Everything doesn't have to be about money, and when you have a really compassionate and understanding person, you can often trade for the value of the item or service.  Meaning, it might not be something that would sell for a high dollar amount, but you know that person spent all day making it.

So far, I hate the wrist brace but I'll have to get used to it.  It's hard to type with it.

hope you get some internet access figured out soon, Sunny!  we need you on here more than that!

I sure hope the treatments work for you Elizabeth!!!  I know you want to avoid surgery.

I don't know what route we are going to take on the internet thing yet.  Will look into it once we get moved.  On a positive note, I think we have come up with a solution to the time consuming winching of the coops.  We'll see if it works with unloading the current one (it's still on the trailer).

Elizabeth I went from construction to computers, the highest risk occupation for carpal tunnel to the second-highest. So needless to say I developed carpal tunnel. I had the surgery on both wrists. I had a severe case, though, to the point where it would wake me up at night from the pain and I couldn't clench or straighten out my fingers. The surgery is a hassle (though thankfully not very painful) because it takes 6 weeks to heal and each wrist has to be done seperately. But the good news is, I haven't been bothered by it since!

My SIL had the surgery and she is completely pain free as well.  Had great results.  Good to hear she is not the only one.

That's what we always did when I was a kid too.  We never had extra eggs or extra veggies from the garden going to waste.  And when we had our bull calf butchered we traded the hide and parts of the carcass for the butchering fee.

That is so sad!     sad.png   I'm sorry you are having to experience this kind of prejudice from your own family.

Could have sworn I multiquoted Seth's post.  Anyway the move is going slow Seth.  Mostly because of the animals and all their paraphenalia.  We are working on it daily but at our age it's going a lot slower than I expected.     old.gif

I was in such a hurry the last time I posted that I neglected to say..

THANK YOU!!! To all of you that were so kind to come and help us last Saturday!  I was amazed at how long you all stuck it out.  It was a very, very long day and we owe you all a huge debt of gratitude!!!  Please don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it next!!!  If we are able we will be there for you!

Missy, I bought all the ingredients to make you some ice cream!     big_smile.png   Now chocolate does have a tiny bit of caffeine in it.  Is that OK?  Can you tell I am ready to barter?

YUM!!!  Chocolate is awesome.  And a bit of caffeine is ok... Russ and I have a horrible Diet Pepsi habit, though we don't let the kids drink anything caffeinated.  Ooh, I'm so excited!  I've made my own ice cream, and it was fun enough, but you know... that's one of the things I'd rather leave to someone else.  Especially someone who is much better at it than I am.  I'll do the cheese and yogurt and jam and stuff... but will happily eat your ice cream!

Speaking of jam, yesterday a friend offered me all the cherries we wanted off of her trees.  We walked away with three 5-gallon buckets, loaded completely full.  They're the tart pie cherries.  So I just sat on the couch for 4 hours, pitting cherries one by one, while watching TV shows on Netflix that I would have seen before, if I actually had cable.  These are the days that my husband wishes my friends would call me up, begging to learn how to can jams and stuff.  On those days, he gets to go somewhere else instead of pitting cherries beside me.  But I believe I have everything onhand for one batch of preserves, and about 8 quarts of pie filling.  Oooh boy, do we have a lot more cherries than that!  I'm wondering now what I was thinking when I saw this bounty of fruit before me and decided I could tackle it all.  Oh yeah, and it all has to be done by Friday night, or the cherries will start to go bad.  But I have a cash client tomorrow, and can buy more sugar and pectin, so I can do at least 5 gallons of preserves tomorrow.

Tyler, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.  When my older sister came out, she was terrified of how my parents would react.  And I think they would have reacted poorly, if they hadn't already dealt with my younger sister's teen pregnancy, and my older sister's two abusive husbands.  They had learned by then that the most important thing was keeping your children close, so you could help them when they needed it.  So when Trina finally got the courage to come out, my dad said, "Well, I hope her taste in women is better than her taste in men."  I was so proud of them.  And of her!  But the rest of my family isn't aware of it, and there's no reason for them to be.  We're the liberal black sheep, especially on my dad's side.
