Sunny, you know where to find me. your welcome any time. I have gear to help you feel safe, and you can stand as far away as you feel safe. I can promise you it doesn't take long to realize the bees are not all angry and on the attack. nearly everyone I have ever shown them to are standing right next to the hive before it is over. But my policy is you do what you are comfortabel with and no more. you can see the hive from my front yard if that is all the closer you want to get.

I have decided to never move again!!!  Since I know that is impractical (this is a rental and we plan to buy when Steve retires) I've come up with a plan.  I will pack the most important things only (pics, ice cream maker and enough clothes to get by) and sell everything else!!!  Well except the dogs maybe.  Then we will go on vacation while a cleaning crew comes in to toss everything that's left!

This has been a nightmare!!!!!   hit.gif   Ok maybe I'm being a tad dramatic.  I have had one or two nightmares in my life that were more terrifying but I can't think of any off the top of my head.  Why do we humans amass so much stuff?  We don't need most of it.  It just sucks the life out of us!  OK I'm getting dramatic again.  I'll stop.

I meant to tell you all last night that we lost a chick due to the heat in the garage.   Well today we lost another even though I put freeze packs out there for them!    sad.png   So now, even though I swore no more brooders in the house, the chicks are back inside stinking up the new house.  Even in clean boxes they stink cause they are at that age. We need to get moved so I can finish the other coops!!!  Missy I think we will be building coops or moving on Wednesday instead of gardening.   hmm.png

Someone wanna trade backs with me for just a week?  I know I can knock this out in nothing flat with a better back!     fl.gif

Bees don't bother me.  IDK why but I've only been stung twice in my entire life and they don't even swell.  I'm definitely not allergic.   I will wear the gear but you won't keep me away from the hive once I'm suited up.

sorry about the chicks and the hard move. hugs.gif  You have a much more difficult move than most people do with all the chickens and coops, etc.  So don't beat yourself up. Plus with your back...Anyway,  things will be better soon as  you get settled in.  Make sure you eat plenty of homemade ice cream to cheer yourself up!

Sunny the moving is what I'm dreading. I just never have time or energy for going through the storage unit. I haven't touched the garage since Bill died, so you can imagine. OH, I guess I have touched it. There's a lot more stuff and more going out that I'm taking out of the house. I used to do about 90% of the packing. Bill always did most of the moving, but always paid someone to help. I don't know anyone to pay and couldn't pay them if I did. My moves will be by myself. Not looking forward to it, so I feel your pain. Literally. My neck and back are really acting up a lot lately and I think about you and my mom everytime I'm hurting.

I took more pics of my birds and now I have a full memory reading on my phone when I try to send them to myself. Tons of pics and no way to see or post them.

As far as coops I know you get a lot of wind. We get crazy wind too, but maybe you can locate some cattle panels and put up a couple of quick hoop coops.

Don't try to move by yourself Kim!!!  Trust me it is so much harder at our age.  I hate to admit that age (and a bad back) are catching up to me (jeez!  seriously, I used to be sooo strong!) but this has been horrible!!!  Arrange it way ahead and get the kids to take off work to help!  They will just have to!  I'm gonna have the kids come and help next time even if we have to wait til they have vacation time built up!

Also have a garage sale way ahead of time!  Don't wait!  Do it now!  Tell the kids to bring their stuff as well to sell.  Have someone watch the till at all times and get lots of help.  Only do the sale for one day and then give away what's left to your favorite charity.

We were idiots!  We decided to have the garage sale after the move!  Now I can't even find anything!!!     roll.png

Hoop coops is something I wanted to look into.  There is a class being offered here in reno on how to build them!  Don't remember the date off the top of my head but I have it marked at home (I'm at the old place right now cause I have no internet service there).  I'm sure that they will show us how to build them properly for our area give the winds here.     fl.gif

Had to call the property managers today to let them know that we are not out yet.  They were not happy but at least the pressure to get out now is over with and I've accepted that we will have to pay more rent there.  Just accepting failure can be very stress relieving.  Before I was in complete denial that we would not meet the deadline.  I am kinda a perfectionist about stuff like that but my back has had the last laugh at me on this one.  I guess I can't win them all!     hu.gif

Well I finally got my garden planted - partially, anyway. hide.gif I planted my garli, onions and potatoes (hopefully not too late). Then I went to Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson and bought some already started plants - four different kinds of tomato, two yellow zucchini, a red bell pepper and a green bell pepper, and a cantaloupe. I'm still going to plant some seeds, too - some fast growing items like radishes, beets and carrots, plus of course my corn! I should be able to get at least two crops of the corn and maybe three. fl.gif I'll have to look through my seeds and see what else I have that grows fast. I really need a hoop house!

I love my temp-greenhouse!!!  This fall, I might even move it out into the garden so I can keep some lettuce growing.  It made such a difference this year in the health of my seedlings.
