Nevadans? - Page 1365

I'm so glad you got her back. I still haven't found my Sumatra roo and just hoping my chicken killing neighbors didn't find him. Just wanted to check in and see if she showed up. Gotta wrangle chicks to take them to sell, but I feel better now.

 Whatever works.

My phone has no memory, so since it's the only thing I have for pics right now I can't get new pics of my bunny. I guess I need to buy a new memory card, but I'm scared I'll lose all my pics and I have no idea how to download them to my laptop other than emailing them to myself. At least I know this thing holds a lot. I think I have 1000 pics on it. Anyway I think this little guy is goona turn out nice. It's a REW Lionhead and will be double maned. Wish the others had made it but at least this one is doing really well. I love watching it sleep on iy's back with it's little legs tucked up and it's feet flat against it. I think it's learning how to drink from the water, but food is never a problem. It won't stay in the nest box at all and even before the eyes opened it would head straigh for a fresh bowl of feed. I swear it's just so stinkin cute! I've never been a fan of REWs, but I'd love to get a couple more. I think the ears my be too long though. I hope not but if so, I'll just have to find a mate with much smaller ears.

Kim - do you have a USB cable for your phone? If so, you should just be able to plug it in to your laptop and it should see your phone's memory card as a removable disk. You can then just copy the photos off of your phone on to your computer. After you are sure they are copied, you can use your computer to delete them and then your phone will be able to take pictures again. If you are not sure about any of this, just tell me what kind of phone you have (brand, model) and I will find out for you.

Do any of you have a automatic door opener? I need to get two of them. We can't go anywhere because the chickens go to bed later then my parents lau.gif who take care of our animals when we go somewhere. The enclosed run area in one coop is too small to leave them in for more then a day and the other coop would be too hot this time of year. Plus, I wouldn't mind not having to go out and let them out at the crack of dawn!

There's some recommendations on the forum but would love to hear from someone I know. I'm going to post over on the Kim's CA thread too.

I heard little footsteps running up to me but still couldn't see her. I finally just chaulked it up to me hearing things and got down off the fence. Turned around and there she was standing at my feet. What the heck?! She was really hungry and thirsty and didn't want me to pick her up which is weird. I have no clue where she could have been last night as we searched WVERYHERE. But I'm just glad she is home smile.png

I don't but I am very curious  to hear other's reports if they do have them.  I'd love to do this eventually as well.

*sigh* well geeze, the good news in the chicken front was short lived.

Turns out Nanners is broody and has made a nest of rotton eggs under the deck far beyond our reach. If I could grab her then I would put her away in a special spot and let her set some eggs but she will not come out at all. Not even budge FOR WORMS. And Mark, jesus he is the sweetest man alive. He said that if we arent able to get her by sundown He will sleep on the deck with the dog to keep coons away from her, and will continue to do so until we can catch her and put her in the kennel. Geeze, Mark.

On top of that I was sitting out there trying to think of clever schemes and my darling Lil' Frizz, the red frizzled cochin who is also one of my sweetest birds, was sitting alone on the deck napping. She woke up and started gasping for air. I went to go see what was going on and her nostrils were clogged up with liquid and she was gasping. I got a q-tip and cleaned her up and thats when I noticed the yucky smell. Crimany.....

I picked her up and brought her out front. We sat here for about ten minutes and she just made repeated motions like she was yawning. I set up a seperate pen for her in the front yard just in case. She has since stopped gasping and her nostrils have dried up but I just dont know what to do. It could be a little thing or it could be a big thing. I mean, Ive seen a couple of my girls get runny noses before....like, a LONG time ago. Back at the old house one of em had a runny nose once and a sniffle and that was that and it got better in a matter of days and no one else ever got sick. Im hoping thats what this is.

I dont know though, I am going to go inside and shower and change my clothes then inspect everyone one else. I guess if Frizz seems fine in the morning and no one else seems sick within the next couple of days then we will know it isnt anything major. The hard thing though is that If she is sick with something major, and ive cought it in time...how will i know? I mean, If she is the only one....I can cull her just in case but what if she ISNT really ill. These things are so scary. Fortunately if its the big bad one we will know for certain within two days.  I am even considering putting another bird in her pen with her and seeing if it gets sick. If it doesnt then Ill know that shes just sneezing, ya know? Its hard to say how to deal with these things but I do feel good that I caught this almost immediately and was able to separate her.

Poor Lil Frizz, i just love her so much. Maybe Im just beeing too worried about these darn birds.

Okay I am a total genius...

Cleaned up, scrubbed my arms with disinfecting soap, changed my clothes and shoes and....well I went out and inspected everyone one else. Smelled all of their heads...everyone else is fine. No one else is sick. good. Sooooo, I grabbed Porkchop (Young showgirl rooster) and Put him in the pen out front with LIL frizz. Now I know, if he gets sick in the next couple of days, then they must be culled. If he doesnt, then she doesnt have anything contagious. Our roomate Josh said that last week she sneezed on him and got snot on his arm so it could be possible that shes been sick for at least that long. Her head smells and her nose is goopy but that is the only symptoms. She is not gurgling and has not been gasping for air since that one episode over an hour ago. Im gonna go look up things that could be giving her a runny stinky nose. Are there any other symptoms I should be looking for?

Oh no!  I sure hope it turns out to be nothing! Maybe she was just choking on something.  You are right though, you will know for sure in a couple of days if it is serious.   :(

These birds were too old to be vaccinated huh?  This stinks so much!!! *no pun intended*

Boy that Markie is sure a Sweetie!!!  I don't think I've ever heard of such a nice guy!  No wonder you're crazy about 'im.   thumbsup.gif
