I'm still waiting on my green layer. My lavender ameraucana should be starting within the next few weeks, I think.
So does anyone have a super good reason why I shouldn't give my chickens a little dog food now and then? The turken goes insane for it, and her hatchmates aren't far behind. Whenever I tend to the chickens then walk inside, she runs after me then asks (rather politely, in fact) for dog food. She never gets more than a few little nuggets before the dogs intervene. And it's Walmart food anyway, so it's mostly grains and a bit of crude protein.
Yesterday I came home and Joe said, "Mom, the chickens somehow got in the house to eat the dog food." (The bowl is just on the inside of the door.) Yeah, right. Somehow, a kid thought it was amusing to let the chickens inside to eat the food, then close the door behind them. He had a few poop piles to clean up for that.

but had to fire an employee, couldn't let it go on anymore. No damage to my back, he said I'm good to slowly return to activities!
My family dr (since she's closer) is managing my pain meds and we just cut down again, I have to wait a month to lower again but glad to be reducing.
