Nevadans?

Hey, does anyone in the Reno/Lemmon valley area know of someone who is missing their pet bunny?

We found one on the road this morning near Pepper street, some lady had almost hit him before he ran underneath another car (which was thankfully parked!). He's awfully sweet and well-cared for, so I'm guessing he's someone's beloved pet. I've put up found ads on craigslist and if we don't get any calls, I'll be posting up stuff in that area/in the newspaper.

He's sooooo soft!

aaawwww poor little bunny....

i miss having bunnies... might have to build a rabbit hutch too.... wonder how they get along with chickens??

How are you getting your birds from her pick-up -- are you lucky enough to be that close to her? If I maybe so nosy. If so and you and SunnyDawn ever do plan a meet-up in the future, I would happily contribute to gas for both if I could arrange a pair/trio chicks or more eggs from Lynne for a ride alone. (I would offer to go also, but I have no one to care for all the critters)

I am starting to wonder about shipped eggs to our elev. - I have only done it twice - but both times less than 50% even start - first time was 4 out of 17 with 4 hatching and now it is 4 for sure maybe 5/6 out of 19 - hatch date is Feb. 1st. I have no doubt the eggs were good and fertile when sent - the air sack is generally loose and most times the yolk looks scrambled or unfindable. (no need to panic - I still have all 19 eggs in the bator just incase I am wrong) Is there a secret for us at higher elevations? I do let the eggs rest for 12 hours before starting incubation.

I feel so bad, like I sentenced the possible chicks to an earlier death by shipping.

I figure by the time the MF's are ready to go into the garage, the Am. chicks will be here for the house. I have seemed to work a steady small stream of chicks thru the house all winter and do not see why it should slow down when spring finally arrives.

Sorry, don't know anyone missing a bunny. Good thing you were there!

Mine got along great together! I only had 1 bunny but he was a sweetie. He passed away a couple of weeks ago though.

No I haven't heard of anyone missing a bunny and I think 10% of the teens from North Valleys were at my house last night.

My son and a bunch of his friends went to the movies last night but came here first since I was baking.

I haven't had good luck with shipped eggs either. Even when I lived at an elevation of 300'! Of course most mail goes by plane these days so the elevation during flight might have something to do with it. I heard that just the jostling they get due to rough handling by the shippers causes many to be too damaged to hatch. I've had great luck when I've picked them up though.

i'm lucky enough to live close to lynne's sister.... lol... she lives out here in henderson.... just happened when i sent her an email about eggs back in nov she mentioned her sister would be making a trip and maybe she would transport... i'm ssoo lucky... i need to think of something to say thank you... oohhh a massage gift certificate.. i can do tradework for one of those.. lol...

anyway... yeah... i'm excited to get them....

the shipped eggs, most of the transfering and everything is done by computers and conveyor belts now... the box gets scanned DUMPED onto the right conveyor and dropped off the conveyor into a bin... that drop could be 3' or more.. and it could have a box up to 75lbs being cropped right behind it.. so even after the crush factor there's the something heavy just landed next to me and bounced me.. like when hubby flops on the bed and almost sends you flying...

i've had really bad luck with shipped eggs... like 0/40+
i did have one make it to lockdown but quit before it pipped the aircell....

anybody want to write my cubscout pack newsletter for me??

Ouch! My daughter's car is like that, it's a Land Rover and only takes premium. Makes it tough to travel very far these days.

Evonne, thanks for the information. 3' drop? That's crazy. No wonder I've never had any luck with shipped eggs. I guess I'll have to borrow someone's roo and hatch my own. Now, how do I talk him into being quiet so my neighbors won't complain about the crowing?
