Fowl adventures happening daily

(he's a silkie.. A very "macho" one at that...) he is super loud too... I could probobly et the neighbors to deal with it if he was nice to my girls. Well see how it's going by next week. I think he might be too small to mate with them anyways and I don't see the point of feeding another mouth if I can't get anyhing out of it. Ah well it was nice of Nikki to think of me. He's really nice and good with people. He hangs out in my dining room and doesn't move a muscle. Just perches there and yawns... So content smile

update in roosterland:
Lucy busted into Wimpys pen and beat him up really badly. Then she couldnt figure out how to get back out so he beat her up as well. they are both covered in blood and im at a loss of what to do. Wimpy...when will you learn? Lucy is the boss!

Oh well, at least he was free!  So sorry about your bird's injuries!  Try Blue Kote or Bag Balm on the wounds (to keep others from pecking at them).  They usually work these things out on their own but keep us updated.  sad

Well I have 2 new roos right now.  1st is a Black Copper Marans roo and the 2nd is an EE although he looks awfully close to a pure blue wheaten am to me.  I only wanted the marans roo but I didn't have the heart to keep just one in quarantine so I took them both.  They are great buddies!

Update on the new chickies!  They are happy and healthy and some are even getting their shoulder feathers in!

Daegorn that is the same way we got our last bunny!!!  I had no intention of buying him, even though our youngest DS was head over heels in love with him, but the sales person said "Oh you don't have to buy him, just hold him for a minute while I get your feed".   roll

Genny so sorry you had to go through that!  I know how you feel about animals and know that must have been very hard on you!   hugs

ETA: And shipping would cost another $35. Looks like i'm just buying chicks from IFA again this year. Thats alot of money just for 10 chicks...

Well I have another Egg Bound hen  I hope this one goes better than last time.

Maybe you can get some of your chicks locally?  A lot of us here on BYC have new babies coming in spring and I find driving a ways is cheaper than shipping these days.
Good luck with your hen!  hugs    I've lost 2 pullets to that problem and it is always so sad.  sad

Ron I love that Chicken Steamer!  At first I thought it was for cooking a chicken.  lol  Now that I'd love to have!

I'd let her out with supervision and see how she does for awhile.  If you are still not sure put her back, she will have gotten a nice leg stretching at least.  smile

Egg gets stuck inside the hen, and in bad cases, breaks inside the hen
