We have been using the 3 Gallon Little Giant unit for about a year and a half. Our local co-op got these in for us at a bulk price. The lady we deal with at the co-op told us we really needed...

I would start to panic with that many "good to go" eggs - all those chicks

Yea but we all know how likely it is that I will have more quitters by lockdown.
If they all make it I'm just going to have to sell most of them. I have 14-15 already spoken for and there are a couple more folks in the Bay Area that said they want some as well but haven't made a hard commitment yet.
Ron if your friend wants hens that are already laying I have a few I can let go but I think she would be happier with younger POL girls from Genny that will be laying longer. Mine, that I am thinking about selling, are over a year old now. The only benefit with the grown hens vs pullets is you are less likely to get blood or meat spots (which do no harm to the egg at all and are fine to eat as is or scoop out). But if she does want already laying hens that are adults let me know. I only have 3 available though.
Happy Valentine's Day daegorn and everybody else! That reminds me I need to go get DH something sweet.
He has a real sweet tooth. Oh man I just realized! Sees is gonna be a nightmare this late huh? I should'a gone earlier!

She's now talking about getting a few that are already laying and then some younger ones (after seeing Genny's pics
). She really wanted some RIR's but I was telling her that there are other brown egg layers that do just as well. What are the three you want to get rid of Sunny?
BTW her name is Sunny, too!
1 RSL, 2 BSLs, 8 EEs, 3 BOs, 1 NHR, 3 Black Ameraucanas, 2 Delawares, and 1 cat that runs the show.

She must be incredibly smart Ron
, I was just thinking she should get a couple of Sunny's and then a girl or two from me. She would have instant eggs (once over the move) and then the youngers comin' up.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
My neice that was visiting, flew home to Louisiana on Sunday and was promptly proposed to by her boyfriend! Very sweet!
I just got a smart phone and realized how dumb I really am... what a learning curve!
Sunny, are some of those eggs mine or am I still on for the last of March?
Genny and Sunny, beautiful chickens!
I had something very weird happen today. I picked up Meringue - who is VERY VERY hard to catch. She flapped a bit, settled down then I put her on the ground. Sassy (who co leads with Cabo) came barrelling over and pecked Meringue, hopped on her back and held down her head! Meringue completely was submissive to Sassy. What was that all about???? I can pick up Sassy, Cabo, Verde, and Flower easily but Meringue and Chuck are very difficult to catch.

Sounds like Meringue and Chuck are the bottom of the pecking order. Bottom of the order really tries to not catch the rooster's attention - or the head hen will give her the what for. You are the rooster.
Often in my flock when I see Versace mount a lower rank hen, one of the top hens will come over and peck her while Versace is romancing her.

Ha ha. I was planning on selling two of my RIRs and a sex link gal that is at the bottom of the pecking order and she deserves a smaller flock to live in with less stress. They are fantastic layers but don't fit into my breeding program and I am getting too many eggs to sell them all anyway these days.

Your's are scheduled for the end of March still and Happy Valentine's day to you too!

Oh no Aubrey!!! I was hoping your shipment would not be similar to my experiences with shipped eggs!
I've never had any success with shipped eggs. I think the folks at the Post Office are just too hard on them. I mean most of the workers are probably great but it only takes 1 jerk to think it's funny to shake up a box marked "fragile" to ruin the poor little eggs. They need everything just right to make it and shipping is so hard on them!
