Ask John Blehm to mark the chicks for us. That way you know FOR SURE which type is which.
(I always band them by color as soon as I open the box. I had one never-to-be-repeated messed up hatchery order between six of us several years ago. I knew which was which as they came out of the box, but I swear, they do-si-do'd their markings, rubbed them off and all became clones because half an hour later, I couldn't tell what half of them were. We were frustrated with each other and ended up with wrong chicks. Although we worked it out, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Ugh!)
On another note, I have been hoping that I will 1. have sold my house, 2. bought a new one and 3. have a chance to build a new chicken coop by April. (I have, um, 5, coops now... )
Ha ha ha ha ha! You are so funny! I only have 1 coop but I am putting a bumpout on it to accomodate the new babies. I've been pestering my hubby to finish the remodel on our current house so we can sell and buy a place with some property so I can expand my menagerie. I'm going to hide this thread so he doesn't see where my addiction is heading!
To answer your comment I did ask John to mark them but I downloaded pics of the varieties we are getting and they are all very different, so if he doesn't mark them we are still fine.
Here are links to the pics...
Black Ameraucana chick
Silver Ameraucana chicks
And finally, Wheaten Ameraucana chick
