I saw these big chunkey lemons on eBay but the auction has ended...they are from Vermont. i almost bid but reined myself in..i have to make dicisions on what i would like to concentrate on. and i think ive made up my mind..ive been at australorps for 25 years or better, good ones are too hard to find. wont work to try to make a silk purse out of a sows ear (hatchery to show bird cross as it doesnt work well if at all.) so im might be giving that up and working on the others..i will try to keep a few aussies just because they are the best winter layer we have ever owned.

might be just the way they are standing  , thought their tails were a little high, maybe they were herded into the corner for the pic..

but i do like these..

Aveca,

Look where you would put a girth on these girls though. Then look at the shoulder angle. Their legs are not in the middle. Short upper arms. Not comfy to sit on, and not balanced for longevity.Yup, I'm horse people too. BHSI England, MANY orange crops ago.Had to hang up my tack due to some clumsy steeplechase horses and 3-day. The back went. Still coach a bit.

Welcome to our website!

We began like most people with just a couple of birds but as with the rest of you it never ends there!

We have travelled the country to collect birds from some of the UK's leading orpington chicken breeders whilst developing some very good lines of our own.

Orpington chicken pens at essex orpingtons

350 Birds

We have built up a flock in excess of 350 birds in over 20 colours. I have all the breed standard colours and also many of the project colours developed to a very high standard.

We also have many project colours in development stage which will be available in the future.

Cockerels at essex orpingtons

Orpington breeding

Essex orpingtons can supply hatching eggs, chicks, growers and adult orpington chickens in all of the colours you see on this website.

We are based in Essex, England and only sell large fowl orpington chickens.

Please enjoy the simplicity of my site, all photos taken are from my stock and premises.

Many thanks

Steve

Bird description:

This pen comprises of five hens and two unrelated cockerels that we have bought together by trawling many private collectors and purchasing the finest examples we could find.

These birds have very good markings and great body size and shape.

Thought these looked familiar. Good thing you didn't grab them - though if you could might be fun.

Wonder IF the person selling these eggs are using pics from over in the UK?  There has been several on EBAY getting away with stealing pics and using them in their auctions.  I say this cause I have yet to see any Lemons that have been this well built up here in the USA.  IF I was to buy from that seller I would for sure ask IF they in fact own those birds.

I have had chickens ONLY since May 2008.  I am NO EXPERT!  I raise German Sheps since 1989.  I raise chickens with a dog breeder's mentality.  I breed for traits.  And put them all together and call it a burd.

lord bill, you never know what people might be up to..im sure lots of unscrupled people out and about on auctions..dave found a matching site above...sure looks like the same chickens to me except they are in UK....vickis right thou..they are on the forhand a bit..at a glance they looked like the classic big ol orp..

i had the odd thought, im going to get those just to see if that hatchs out.they didnt want an arm and a leg for them..but i dont want to jepordise what i have going on already..look at daves post above and say look familiar? those are in UK.hmmmmm

the

auction was listed in vermont  USA

its

sad that people do stuff like that..sad but no suprise, i occasionally see some bycers over there selling the surplus, good salt of the earth people..one bad apple makes the whole barrel seem bad.

i just cant deal with a lot of the colors..feathers in general are weird to me..add a bunch or stripes andthings..not sure i could stand it..white blk and blue is about as far as i can go..those penciled wyandottes bugg my eyes out like a weird pattern on somones shirt.it interesting to me but they really do bugg me, i couldnt be a poultry judge..look at my avatar see how unkempt that tail is?   makes me nuts.i would be nit picking over those poor cukoos until there were no feathers left.

Be careful, those ARE the same birds (UK), look at the fencing in the background of both pics. wink.png  It's kind of disgusting what lengths some people will go to... duc.gif
