Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds - Page 1545

Jean,

He is a very nice looking blue.  I never think of raising blues because I would need two different lines to do so since most of the blacks nowadays do not carry the pattern gene.  Too much BS in BBS.

@ Jean..

I am so excited that you are working on laced blues.  Your F1 results are very encouraging!

I am so attracted to this project.

I have been researching this for months.  I have a binder stuffed with printed out info, spent hundreds on books, stared at the kippen calculator till my eyes crossed, built new breeding pens, bought more incubators...all in anticipation of working on laced blues.

The one thing that still eludes me..... the dang birds that I need! he.gif    I feel like I have spent the last year and half just trying to get the chickens that I want to raise.

Hawaii is great cuz the whether is nice and...... yeah that is pretty much it.  lol!

Living in the middle of the Pacific Ocean for the last 17 years has been.. isolating.  I know, I know I, you live in Hawaii stop feeling sorry for yourself Christie.

He has little itty bitty bumps where his wattles should be.

My little black ameraucana hen just hatched 7 eggs from mixed parentage.  I can tell if the blue marans was involved if they have feathers on their legs.  I have never seen a mama hen interacting with their baby chicks before.   It is adorable!!!!

Look at the cute egg I just collected!  It is from a black ameraucana pullet.  It is so pretty in person, it has blue-green spots!  Such a pretty egg.  I am going to blow it out.  Cant wait to see if she lays anymore eggs like this!  The flash kinda lightened it up a little.

(Larger pullet egg from a wheaten to compare)

Hi all,
I'm looking for Wheaten Ameraucana hatching eggs. I'd like to get the best possible lines I can find. Any recommendations? :) Thank you.

Hi welcome to the Ameraucan thread.

I think you just touched the third rail on the thread.  No one wants to suggest one breeder over another for fear of offending anyone.

I suggest we, here on the thread send a PM with our candid thoughts.  Please don't recommend yourself breeders, be candid about who YOU would choose if you were starting over.  That would help her out best,

Denise
