(I saw that on the EE thread) I have lots of EE and almost ALL lay a nice blue egg... I could not tell by the eggs if it was an EE or a pure Ameraucana.   I breed my EE for a blue/blue green.... I don't really care for the green, but the OLIVE that is another story...

Yeah, I got both of them from a breeder, her lavender ameraucanas are gorgeous!

Was the chick hatched and they told you it was a lavender or did they sell you a hatching egg?

If it was the latter, maybe they got the eggs mixed up.  If you were sold the chick, then I would say you should call the breeder and ask for a refund or for another chick that is in fact lavender.

I got it as a chick but the chick was still all fuzz and no feathers, and the fuzz was silvery gray, is that not what lavender chicks look like?

She should have know if that was a lavender or not.  I KNOW when I get a lavender... they look different AND I keep up with my eggs by pens.  If she sold that to you as a lavender then you SHOULD get another chick.

I think right now my husband would kill me if I tried to bring another fuzzybutt into the house, I am not really that worried about it, I still got a super friendly cute chick out of the deal, we will see, if she becomes a he then I might try again this year! If not I will probably wait until I know what all I have pullet wise

TC, if you do a search on this thread for my handle and "white eggs", you should come across some previous posts I've made where you will read about me taking my breeding program back to a white egg layer and a very light blue egg layer - and why I did it.  The short answer is YES.  You can get back to blue fairly easily.  In fact, I have one pullet laying an egg now that may very well be the bluest egg I've ever had.

I just hatched 2 out of 6 ameracauna eggs I bought.  The eggs were due Monday, and one hatched yesterday and one today.  I hope I get another, to increase my odds of a pair.

I have no idea what color they will be, I guess I should have asked!  Any guesses?

Oh, the tiny one in the corner is a solo baby button quail, a couple of days old.  The three cuddle up, its so cute!

Why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

Why is there brail at drive up ATMs??

Why are their floatation devices instead of parachutes in my airplain seat???

If a tree falls in the woods and my husband doesn't hear it, am I still wrong????
