These are our 1st homebred AMs. They are 6 months old. We had 8 chicks hatch, but the mother was absolutely terrible and we lost 3. We got 2 pullets and 3 cockerels that survived. These are the boys. The more developed blue male is the dominant boy. There is a black and another blue who seem less developed. Any opinions on how they look for showing? My daughter is 4h and we were hoping to show and sell them this year, but with the flu issues, I assume we wont be allowed at shows for a while.
Our rooster is a black from Tom Kernan and our plan is to get 2 blue pullets from a show breeder in Va this year to add to his flock. We originally got a black roo to put over our black and blue girls and have found we really really love the blues...How would we know if one of the blue roos would be worth keeping for breeding? We were told that breeding a black to a blue would produce darker blues, have others found that to be true?
The first boy is the best overall. He's got good lacing, and a good tail set. The Black's tail is too high, and the other Blue's lacing seems pretty subtle.
