Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds - Page 512

Oh my word!!! Those birds are gorgeous! I am not  a breeder nor nuffin, but I would love to have some of those birds.  Just lovely. Lovely. Lovely.

That is an egg I got in November last year and the birth mark looks remarkably like the father. Funny Huh?

I'm really impressed with your boys tail feathers.  All my lav boys have ragged tail feathers. sad  I am hesitant to use them at all.

I love their booty!! What gorgeous birds!!

I'v had a backyard flock for about two years. I have a Leghorn, a Production Red, a Barred Rock, a French Copper Marans, an EE, two OE, an Ameraucana, Buff Brahma, and a BLRW. And two Rouen ducks and a mess of pigeons. And a partridge in a pear tree.......

His tail is my favorite out of the three cockerels I have, but still needs improvement.  Like to see him hold his wings higher, too....and less, what do you call it? "fretting"?...the little black bars faintly visible in some of the feathers.  There are five black Smith pullets in this pen also, but they did not want to be photographed.  They should improve type, size, feather quality, etc.

The one pullet has very clean coloring in her feathers.  Hardly any "fretting" and it does make a difference in their appearance from a distance, IMO.

I might post a thread about this, but I wanted to ask in this thread first because, you know, it's the Ameraucana thread!

I am looking for Ameraucana eggs for Spring 2011. I live near Ottawa, Ontario so I am looking for a breeder just over the border. I am making a stop in Montpellier Vermont in Spring to pick up some eggs, so maybe someone near there?

Specifically looking for BBS eggs but open to ideas. smile

That's the orpington blood they carry.  If these are Harry's lines, it was introduced to improve the size.
