Toulouse Geese: Male or Female... any way to tell??

[/IMG] here's a few more pics. 3 of them have orange beaks, one has a slightly pinker beak. They're all pretty similar in size.

This is sooo confusing. I also have two Toulouse geese. One is elegant with a long slender neck (I always think this is the female) the tip of her bill is white. The other is kind of stocky with a black tipped bill. The one I think is female honks where the other one makes noises of a different sort. The thing that really makes me think she is the female, is that she is the one my two runner-duck drakes offer their affection to (not that she's interested in the least!). We should all compare notes come spring.
Was it a boy or a girl? Interested :)

I have the same question! I have 2 Toulouse geese . Coloring is identical on both , no black tip on beak , yellow mascara around eye , but ....
Definite difference in body type . Both have a pouch between legs. One is streamlined and one is a box , very square . Streamlined One walks more upright or taller and boxy one walks more with its breast level to ground. I let them set on eggs this past spring - nada egg hatched. ( am I the only one that didn’t know rotten eggs are actually stink bombs that randomly explode when you touch them )
Now I also have 2 Sebastapol and same thing , no idea who’s what.
Vocals are all over the charts , it’s so confusing but for those who say “ just look”. I’m not up for physical exams as I know I hate em and don’t want to risk injury to my darlings.

Hi,

Any thoughts as to the sex of these? I bought them as two females and they are just 6 months old. I suspect that the one on the left may be a male because it makes a point of chasing the drakes away when the drake is mating with the duck hens - otherwise it leaves the drakes alone. It has a black bean on its bill, the other does not - not sure if that means anything.

after a bit of reading on the net i found how to vent sex your goose and today sexed ours as female

get your goose upside down on your knee with neck under one arm, our goose calmed after about 30 seconds of fidgeting and kicking
locate the vent, i tried to find it by gently stroking her nether regions but i visually spotted it due to it being a bit stained by her pooh,
having my goose on my knee and neck under one arm, i held her down by leaning my forearms on her giving me 2 hands free at the vent. placing 3 fingers above the vent and 3 below you firmly but gently stroke away from the vent, i also used my thumbs to gently press down on each side. after a few seconds the vent opened slightly, after a few more strokes and it opening wider i was able to determine is wasnt a male
the 1st 2 images im assuming are younger geese
female

male

older male

all in all it wasnt a trying experience, although slightly undignified for the goose.
even then, 20 minutes later when i went into the garden she still ran upto me.
Awesome....I might have to try this with my two to confirm. I did find a 'random' egg in with the ducks that was considerably larger than the duck eggs. Not sure it's a goose egg. Since my theory is that, like ducks, their first eggs are smaller in size...my goose laid a sympathy egg (early - since she is only 5 months old).
