I went out on the bayou this morning & found these all over the cypress trees.

They're little cocoons. They make a little pale brown moth. I've seen other kinds where the worm will carry it around on it's back with little pieces of twigs and lichen stuck to it for camoflauge.

here's a hint,
In the summer the trees on the bayou are covered with spiders,
these are their winter houses,lol.
When I first moved out here,I was curious & opened one.I thought they were the cypress tree seeds, didn't know any better.

no, it was cold that day, spider was moving real slow. He fell in the water & became fish food,lol.
I don't know what kind they are other than it was a brown one.

the last time we had snow was back in 2000.We got an unusual amount of 5 inches. I'm in north Louisiana.
