I'm more confident, now, that this will work. I'll let you know once I get it constructed.

Well, it's been over a week with no coons getting in my garage. I only made one change to my cat entrance. I took the 10 inch stepping stone off of the pipe, and replaced it with a larger piece of plywood. The idea being that if the coons were climbing the metal pipe, they won't be able to get up and around the piece on top which extends out about a foot each direction. My cat leaps up there with no problem, and seems to enjoy sitting there and looking around when he comes out the window. I've got my fingers crossed that I don't have to start over on the higher window. So far, so good.
Thanks again for you input. Has anyone else had a similar situation?

Wow, time flies! I had forgotten about this thread but happened across it while looking through my subscriptions. As an update, the platform outside the garage window has been working beautifully all these years. However recently we left some concrete blocks stacked against the garage near enough for a coon to use them as a step ladder. Who knows how long it's been that the block of wood keeping the window from opening wide has been missing. Those two things and we had a coon in the garage eating cat food and knocking things over. We've made the necessary corrections and all is well, again.
