I have lost more to snakes than all other predators combined.  They manage to get into my brooders and eat my chicks
somad

I chose hawks because no matter what I have done to deter them, I've still lost 3 to hawks.  My electric fence seems to have done the trick to deter the coons.  We would see them but I had not lost any to coon.  My chicken area to too big to cover.

Me,DH, 2 DS, 4 dogs, 1 parakeet, 1 parrotlet, 2 frogs, 19 hens, 1 roo, 2 turks, 28 ducks (9 calls, 2 kcs, 3 runners, 3 scovy, 2 Mandy, 4 teal,1 wood duck, 2 rouen, 1 pekin) 3 geese (1 Embden, 1 Sebastopol, 1 toulouse), 1 Flem Giant Rabbit, 1 Neth. Dwarf rabbit, 2 sugar glider.  http://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=22826-my-home-for-sale

Raccoons..... somad
and that's how I voted.

However, I think the worst predator is the 2-legged human variety, because they know that they are stealing.

Still, when I build coops/runs I have raccoons in mind when I'm designing.

One thing is for sure. The price of a dead hen is a dead pred.

I was curious about snakes and was going to post on that topic when I saw this. Thanks Opa! It's interesting to know what others have experienced.

I've had a couple hawks that were hanging around but I think they have given up and moved on. Good thing cuz my aim was improving! Please know I wasn't shooting to kill! Just to give em a good scare!wink

I've heard from others in our area that racoons are the worst but snakes will go after the eggs!

Coyotes were in decline here in SE Nebraska from mange the past few years. They seem to be making a comeback recently. I saw 2 last week and our dogs killed 1 during the same week.
