I've taken a break from baking and wanted to send Christmas cheer to all of you. Thanks for all the wonderful advice. My chickens are so appreciative too! They're enjoying a warm, above freezing day, with a couple of snow free spots to forage.

I'm baking 2 pecan pies, one for tonight SIL and DIL's and GD and one for tomorrow with some of my family.

Also made a lot of chocolate truffles - wooohoo they are great.

What are you baking/making for Christmas?

My mom and sisters are coming over tonight and we're going drink wine and make seafood gumbo for tomorrows meal at my brothers house.

Nothing. We are going over the hills and thru the woods to my parents home, and my mom makes a spread, and the family shows up and we celebrate together. This is a major reason for me leaving NY 3 years ago and moving down here. If you really want to know, the hilites of my mom's spread are herring salad and Leberkase (German). She's done this for 30 years (which sounds like I'm older, but I'm really 35----wish!)

not cooking anything currently but i did make a smashing venison/spinach quiche last night.

i don't cook often or very well, so when something comes out delicious i'm a grinnin' fool for a few days.
