I'd be careful before shooting dogs with a paintball gun. The way most laws are written, you can usually kill a dog that is worrying livestock. But you can be charged with animal cruelty/abuse for *hurting* the dog or causing it pain like shooting it with Bebe guns, pellet guns and paintballs. I'd check first with animal control, or your sheriff and see if you can actually do it without getting in trouble.

So I'd say...no, it's not a good idea. Not until you check your laws and ordinances first.

Im outside of city limits, and montgomery county. These dogs have killed multiple birds and ive had to chase them off my property numerous times. The neighbors are ok people and i used to play with the dogs all the time when I would visit. So im not up to killing the dogs, but I will let them off with a warning.

But thank you for your concern. I will check out the law and if I can ill get a hold of our local ordinances.

Freeze the paintballs they then still hurt the dog non lethal and no paint on the dog.  I used this when i lived in town to take care of the raccoons that were knocking over my garbage can worked great no bang and no body.

Freezing is a good way to let the dogs know they shouldn't be around your yard.
I'm of the other thinking on this though, paintballs will mark a dog.  When that dog returns home it should be quite evident to the owner that someone busted them with a paintball and the dog is doing something it shouldn't be.  If the owner still lets the dogs loose, keep marking it....after four or five times if the owner has done nothing, catch the dogs up and call animal control, he'll have to pay a fine, if he does that enough he'll learn he has to either contain the dogs or get rid of them, either way you're problem is cured.

BTW, good price on the paintball outfit, yes, get all that stuff with it....

Hello
My name is Ed Harris
look up my name in the scearch box.
If you live in the city you could be charged with discharge of a weapon depending on how the laws are wrote.
In fighting a civil summons now for shooting at two dogs that came on my property and attacked my family and birds.
this was after trying to scare them off many times.

Hello
looking at a couple of your other posts, trapping the dog can also get you in trouble.  One of my charges in the civil suit is Conversion.

Conversion is taking the animal away from the owner or taking charge of the animal, or not allowing owner the use of his animal, even for a short period of time.

Also, they have a charge of loss of companionship if the animal is destroyed or hurt while in the shelter. They, the owners, can allege anything .

You could find youself having to defend your actions.

Defense,  protecting yourself or the animals, does not matter.

Check your local laws

I asked our local police about shooting the dogs with a paintball gun and they said it would be discharge of a weapon....

Learn from my families pain

I've had to shoot aggressive dogs in the past. But once I was bothered with a friendly dog that wouldn't chase off and wouldn't quit trying to get to the chickens. I caught him and spray painted a target on each side and glued a bullseye on his forehead. After I finally chased him away, I never saw him again after that. To this day, I wonder what his owner thought when the dog made it home. (I'm assuming)
