Laser therapy for dogs/arthritis - anyone use this treatment?

Thanks for the info Wynette! It's something we will keep in mind for Riley if he ends up needing it. One of our other dogs Brody has a knee problem that usually bothers him during the winter, but this year he hasn't had any issues. He's getting around that age where issues might crop up, but so far he's been ok. He's the one who has taken Rimadyl before. It was a low dose, and he did well on it.

Hiya, Chelsea! Gosh, darn dogs anyway...they tear our hearts out when they get old, don't they? But...ya gotta love what they bring to a household, for sure.

Yeah, they do. When we lost Sampson he wasn't even that old. He had turned 6 years, and it was an ulcer that killed him so suddenly. We still miss him, and I know Riley does. He does like Sophie though. He romps and plays in the yard just like he did with Sampson, and I've been glad to see that. She gets that same look in her eye like Sampson did. Come on Riley....I dare ya! No, I double dog dare ya!

She still can't catch him though, he just runs to darn fast.

Our vet uses an ointment with steroids and DMSO in a base of aloe gel with some other things to be directly put on the joints. He doesn't like the longterm side effects of NSAIDs. It works well, but you have to use a popsicle stick to apply it to the knees and inner hip area on the belly.
