D'uccle Thread - Page 552

I'm still bopping along raising d'uccles here in Maine. I have milles who have given me a few chicks, porcelains who have given me a TON of eggs and cages full of self blue & golden neck youngsters who will be ready to make a new flock in the Fall! I love these guys, especially the roosters, who think they are big, fierce protectors and merrily bounce off my ankles :)

If I had to guess, right now I say approximately 6-week old mille fleur....

The only black he's got is on his neck, eveything else is bluish gray or the gold. Kinda weird huh?

Yep. If the black is blue in person, then I'd say blue mille, waiting on spangles. If he doesn't get any spangles then he will be one weird looking little guy, and there's no name for that, other than AOV....

Here's the side view of my dark cockrel, yesterday at four months of age. He's hot stuff!  So far today three chicks hatched under a sweet CRAZY hen who insisted on setting during this miserable heat wave.  Still no rain, either.  MaryIMG_0027.JPG

WegotChickens, the blue boy is starting to get a few spangles so we shall see. What does AOV mean? Another Odd Variation? I only got one fertile egg from my Gold Neck and dark millie roo pairing. It should be hatching tomorrow, I really hope it is something unique looking!

Folly's Place, where are you located? I'm up here in Wisconsin and it is soooooo hot and dry. Seems like it's a crazy summer for everyone. I think your dark roo is pretty neat. What did he look like as a chick?

Here is a photo of my silkie cochin mix that I was describing, also, a pic of my 2 month old d'uccles who think it's pretty cool to roost on top of a door:)chanel.jpggirls.jpg

AOV is all other variety  wink.png

with the silkie mixes that are black since they have lavender in their background if i breed back to their dad i should get some lavenders from them then right?

FairLeaBantams, I grew up in Wisconsin but now live in southern Mich' near Lansing.  We're in  a drought, and it's HOT!  Hard to complain, given the places with no electricy and even warmer, though.  Mary
